Cracks papered over.

Till the next game at least
We've gone from a world class Kane and Son papering over the cracks and getting us 4th place to just papering over the cracks and drawing with Bournemouth (at home) in order to stay lower mid table. How far we have fallen as a club.

I have no idea why it might a combo of Conte’s compact system and Ange’s high energy and freedom colliding, providing something great and now we see it for what it is or I don’t know.

Chelsea looked a machine at the end of last season under Poch and Maresca started like a machine and now they have dropped off play wise. Sometimes there is a sweet spot from one manager to another where the good points of one manager and another combine for a period.
We should be the first club to have two managers!

Important for mid-week not to have a morale-sapping loss, but a very poor performance again — handed a point on a silver platter by Kepa.

Vicario probably MOTM for us again.

Bergvall was superb when he came on, everything Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr and Maddison are not.

We have a terrible midfield it has to be said.

No connectivity, vision or ability.

Would love to see Gray and Bergvall in our midfield from Thursday on.

Gray yet to play in midfield for us, so I think it’s fanciful to even think it possible.

Also think Maddison has been decent of late.

Seen enough today to conclude that Iraola is a better coach/manager than postecoglou, a freak goal and bonehead decision from their keeper doesn’t change that.
Would be very pleased with him as our manager next season.

Could not agree more.

Ange stepped back into the manager position after packing up his coaching manual for good.

Did you see that shitshow in midfield?

All three of those starters today are "yet to play in midfield" as far as i am concerned.

It’s not Ange’s tactics that make everyone stand still with no movement from throw ins, it’s not Ange’s tactics that tell Bergvall to press and drive forward whilst telling everyone else not to challenge for the ball, it’s not Ange’s tactics that tell Bentancur to pass to the opposition every time, it’s not Ange’s tactics for Porro to misplace every pass.
Can't disagree with any of that.
Still does not cover the fact that Angle is completely out of his depth and should be replaced.

The next step should be getting rid of some of our players. Some of them are just not good enough.

Have you heard any levy out chants? Not heard a think on the TV, just the boos at HT
No. Didn’t hear any. Lots of new faces in the crowd, I think a lot of regulars just didn’t go today.
Must say there weren’t a lot of Korean faces either , usually quite a few.

He showed glimpses but id say great is a bit much.

We have a lot of players like Odobert who look like they have something but dont really have an impact.

Bergvall made a difference today

Odobert was the standout player in the first half, until that fraud moved him.

That idiot has no idea what he is looking at. Head full of rocks.

But it is Ange tactics that wants us to keep trying the low percentage vertical pass. Only Porto & Bentancur can’t do it, while Bergvall can.
We have a no9 like Solanke but yet We always only play out from back - that’s also down to manager. He specifically wants Vicario to take goal kicks without wasting time - without even checking if players are back in position or ready .
Ofcourse there is blame on players too but more blame is also on Manager given he is also asking players to play into opponents trap
Time and time again. The opposition know exactly what to do and they inevitably turn the ball over just outside our own area! The crowd really got on Vicario’s back because he kept on doing it regardless, just blindly.
I get the tactic, I understand the purpose of it but when it’s causing problem after problem the keeper has to change it up sometimes.
The crowd were also barracking players that were procrastinating over the ball or turning back and playing it backwards. I think we’re all getting fed up with it. Whatever happened to Ange's style of football? whatever we’re playing nowadays it’s not Ange's style of football.

Just got back from the game. That was utterly diabolical. I actually felt sorry for Bournemouth, to only come away with a point after that performance must have been tough for them to take. We literally scraped a point via a miss hit cross and a brain fart from their keeper.

We didn’t have a clue all game, just look at the difference between the two sides and how they were set up. Iraola joined them 2 weeks after we got Ange, they’ve also had plenty of injuries as well but they all knew what they were doing and made us look as bad as we know we are.

Ange out now, Iraola in the summer!

Assuming this is correct or thereabouts, is Ange or Iraola making the most of their respective squads?

Sorry to sound like I am being contrary but today is why I don't think I would want Iralola in charge at Spurs.
the second half they kept on pressing us well but they played into our hands.
We hit the post twice and the Sarr chance that he should have scored from just showed he didn't react to the game.
it felt like early Poch which was very proactive but lacked reactivity.

Not sure about this, thought they defended well as a whole. The chances they had, though, they really should have won comfortably.

Though I agree I’m not entirely sold on Iraola being the messiah. Clear he’s an improvement on Ange in a lot of aspects, sadly.

Fair point. It just seemed
Like he lost control when his side were 2-0 up.
you could argue I guess that perhaps that was some of our play too I suppose.

I think we also deserve a little credit. Whether by design or players just showing a bit of urgency, we wrestled our ways back in — aided, as it was, by Kepa. Overall not good enough, but there was some character at the end of it. And well bloody need it if we want to get to the QFs on Thursday.

Nothing sums up our season more than when Van der Ven expertly picks it up in his own box rounds two players, a lovely burst of pace, a pass to Solanke, who then promptly trips over himself.
