what the feck happened? We were sharp in the first half and then I checked the score and we got hammered in the second.

However there was one giant positive to the game and that was Ndombele, he pretty much single handedly retired the notion that we rely on Eriksen, we can build a whole team around this brilliant bastard. He see's things on the Pitch that I wouldn't with a birds eye view. Unbelievable player.
Amazing what can happen when you follow through with 'no one being bigger than the shirt' mentality. It's always better to fill out your team with quality than rely on 1 'great' player wouldn't you say @Shadydan ? Roy of the Rovers was a comic after all. We should have sold him last year and gotten Ndombele and Lo Celso then...that would have save us 50+ million on their collective purchase prices and then we'd be so much better off considering what we could have gotten for Eriksen, where we will get nothing now. We could have had a MF last year and our best period in many years wouldn't look to be ending in such a bad way.

Watching on tv tonight one thing I absolutely hated when I saw it - after our first goal they showed a slo-mo of a section of the crowd celebrating - at least 50% of the ****s there had their phones out filming either the pitch or them-fucking-selves.

And I'm not talking random Koreans or kids - these were blokes in their 20's and 30's - what you'd expect to be proper hardcore fans, and all half of them wanted was social media attention.

I absolutely cannot stand it. Social media has ruined football crowds.

Saw the same when Kane was lining up to take his penalty. Absolutely despise it. People pay more attention to their phones and getting likes than what's actually happening on the pitch (he says whilst typing this on his phone in the hope of getting some likes ).

We were dogshit, I'm not saying we weren't. But Bayern were also unbelievably clinical. Here's what the xG map was at halftime:

EF0V6uAXUAEC8DY

So we gave up ~1.5 xG in the second half, which is reflective of really poor defending. But any time a team outscores its xG by five it requires a rare bit of clinical finishing. I know everyone's understandably upset about the result but that kneejerk emotion shouldn't cloud our judgment as to the quality of Bayern's finishing.
Our first half performance was actually very decent all in all. But there were issues. These issues were not resolved and while Bayerns finishing was top notch. We allowed them to have potshots without any pressure. Without pressure on the ball scoring a long shot isn't really that hard.

While I’m tempted to defend match going fans, I had one bloke behind recording himself celebrating, and another in front of me filming the Bayern fans on one of the many occasions they scored.

Not sure which is worse, although filming the Bayern fans annoyed me more.

Just got home and I’m still a bit in shock at what I’ve witnessed. At half time I felt we were unlucky to be trailing and had produced the best 40mins of the season. I was quite hopeful of the 2nd half, I did not anticipate what happened one bit.
After the 5-2 SF against Chelsea a few years back I was fuming & wanted Redknapp gone asap, I just feel a bit numb at the moment. How we’ve gone from the joyful, optimism of opening our new stadium and getting to the CL final to the shambles we’ve produced so far this season is incredible. I’m lost for words to describe how I feel. There been a few in my 40yrs but was last season our biggest false dawn??
I’m dumbstruck by it

In 1977, a young boy attending his first Spurs match saw 9 goals at the Lane, and the popular hero we now know as @Nine while nine was born. Forty two years later, and some as-yet-unknown child born in 2012 will have sat in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time tonight and also have seen 9 goals. Who would have suspected at the time that that little boy or girl would grow up to be the bitter, jaded soul whose formative footballing experience would turn them into renowned SC supervillain @Seven while seven, dedicated to a life of only ever giving out negative post ratings, and curating threads about posing systematic music questions.

Anyone know why people were fighting at the bottom of the South at 5-2?

Live 9 miles from the stadium took 2 and a bit hours to get there in this shit weather. First half we looked decent, even at 2-1 you're thinking we look dangerous.

All goes to shit at 4-1, Poch made the wrong decision in my opinion at 4-2 and we just got picked off.

Embarassing, but I dont think its as big a deal as some are making out. Good result on Saturday, decent break, 2 home games to bounce back and all will be well. 7-2 defeat at home thats just how we roll ☹
How many times are we going to say this though?

It was "let's respond against Palace", we did but then got beat by Leicester and ko'd by Colchester.

Then it was "let's respond by beating Southampton" then we get this.

We are never far away from our next defeat. 3 years ago we would go unbeaten for months. Now we are a soft touch.

If it continues the players will start to accept defeat as Poch keeps beating the 'we need to rebuild' drum, whereas others will just give up and won't wait for a change in results.

Almost my entire stand (west) was mute throughout the game, but seemed keen to film it all

Pathetic

Nothing makes a match-going fan special, I go to as many games as I can. What I don't do when I get there is silently film things all night.

I won't ever understand it but I wouldn't mind so much if it didn't distract huge sections of the crowd. Don't understand how so many middle aged men have been taken in by this nonsense.

Why is Ndombele fit enough for Champions League football at Lyon but not at Spurs.

Because in France he could get the sun lounger out at the weekend and cruise through a lot of games. Ligue 1 is good to watch for a lot of reasons but powerhouse midfields aren’t one of them
