Aside from that 15min spell at the start of the 2nd half it was the most ‘Europa’ performance ever.

Comfortable but with little to no cutting edge. We repeatedly turned into over crowded areas of the pitch and the few times we did break through we never looked confident with our attempts.

will he blood the youngsters until the last 16 (assuming we qualify in top 8) or switch to 1st team as soon as it becomes a knockout - he needs to play that selection right

It was very frenetic with not much control, ok for the lesser teams but think a more solid team would be required up against the better teams

Does it matter if we finish 1st or 8th in the Europa? For instance, do we get a more favourable draw?

I think we’ll see stronger (but not strongest) XIs against Roma and Rangers. Ange will expect Roma to be a big test and will also be aware that Rangers will want to get one over him personally. Beyond that I’d expect similar team selections to the last 2 Europa games all the way through to the last 16.

Yes I believe so. The top 8 will be seeded accordingly so in theory the teams in 1st and 2nd will avoid each other until the final.

To be fair - Son is likely out v. Palace.

But, Moore's minutes are going to be managed, and unlikely to start due to that.
I thought Son was just being rested for last night? I haven't seen any news today, so if I have missed something then sure he should start given Werner is so low on confidence and Odobert has only just come back..

Ange Presser - Son is likely out.

ETA - Also Ange Presser - Moore is ready to start, but we are going to manage his minutes.

I thought Bentancur was our bes....well, let me say, most important player last night. Maybe that means best, but either way.

Was disappointed how many times Bentancur gave the ball away and number of occasions ran into trouble.
Was always so relaxed when he was on ball, not so these days.

The only thing that I have a concern with in the Europa League is that we don't take it as seriously as we should when necessary. For instance, I think we'll lose in Turkey if we're going there with Davies and Gray in our defence. I would love to see stronger sides for Galatasaray and Roma, and then you may give yourself the luxury of going a bit 'lighter' in the remaining games.

When I say stronger sides, I mostly mean in defence though if I'm honest.

Fucking awful. Still reinforces the fact he needs to go at the end of the season.

As someone who has defended Ange a fair bit… that was tough to defend. Sure the lineup is still heavily sub optimal (especially up front) but it was just so flat. You would think if nothing else the energy should have been really high for a huge game after 8 days edit: meant to put this is the Ange thread so posted it there too, sorry for the double post
