I call bulls**t. Vlaar is very much a sevond rate cb with an allright world cup. No point in swapping like for like with Daws and losing Holtby on top.

I'd hope this would be more like a Levy shuffle - send a message to Southampton saying 'we'll back off on Vlaar if we get Schneiderlin'. Otherwise it looks like utter tosh.

Would lose a lot of faith in Poch. if he lets Holtby go at this stage.
Two decent appearances in pre-season,
an excellent goal and plenty of movement.
Dawson yes his time has come and some other peripherals
but Holtby no.

Painfully average player who had his 15 minutes at the World Cup. Dawson for Vlaar is hardly a staggering upgrade and to lose Holtby as well would be absolutely comical business.

No chance of that swap deal happening ...totally BS and villa can't afford the wages Dawson and Hotlby would want.

However if we were really after him ....due to villa needing cash,i'm sure we could just buy him outright and send just some of our youngster on loan.
At 29 I would only offer 7mil tops ....decent world cup,and had a good rep before he want too villa ....I think its just playing with a lot of weaker/lower Q players has made him look worse than he is.
Better players in the Holland team and he suddenly looks a lot better player !!

I could live with a straight swap of him for Dawson also as I think hes an upgrade on Dawson...IMHO.

Both holtby and Dawson are seen more positively outside our club than from within our own fans. Easy journalism to get villa fans excited.

I think we should let Man Utd 'beat' us to this signing, act all sad in public and celebrate with champagne and strippers in private.

The fact that Vlaar would be going to play for his former international coach would seem to put Manure at the head of the queue. The fact they can out bid us would also help them get him before we do.

In short i can't see this happening and as others have commented losing Holtby, who is starting to progress now in a Spurs shirt, would be very bad business.

The Netherlands play 3 at the back, which makes it easier for him. VG will probably play the same at Utd., which may make Vlaar a better fit for them.

Is it raining acid whereever this story was birthed? I've made more sense listening to badly burned stroke victims.
