Tottenham have rejected an opening 10m euros (£8.4m) bid from AC Milan for defender Emerson Royal.

The right-back, 25, was subject of a verbal and then written offer, which was swiftly rejected as the asking price is believed to be double that initial bid.

Hope they are not pleading the usual poverty line.

Following the increase in 2022/23, Milan's €400m revenue is now the second highest in Italy, just ahead of Inter €396m, but €60m below Juventus €460m. There is clear water between these three and the other Italian clubs, as the next highest are at least €100m lower: Napoli €280m, Roma €224m and Fiorentina €152m.

Surprised they didn't want a kidney or a heart as part of the deal, cheeky fuckers.

That’s probably spaced over the 4 year contract too, €2 a season, dirty bastards.

I think the Premier League clubs should just not accept this bullshit about European clubs (bar Real, Bayern and PSG) being hard up. They are clearly generating revenues and they are taking advantage of the expectation of English clubs being cash cows.

If we were buying Royal from Milan they would be quoting us £35m. If it was Sporting he'd be 135m. He's not a player that we need to bin off. The guy can do a job and be a decent back up if they don't bid enough.

Agree. We'd be delighted if we bought a backup/alternative RB of his quality for 20-25m.

Starting price should be over £20m

don't agree.

he's now arguably 3rd choice in his position, taking up a non-hg spot which are at a premium and is completely unsuited to how we want to play. i imagine milan can also see that, hence the "low" offer. not saying we give him away but there's a lot working against us in terms of trying to get what we consider fair market value for him.

He's been a good servant to the club, never caused any fuss, played out of position a lot, always great around the place and spent a ton of his own money to improve his fitness. I'd be OK taking a lowish offer for him if it was a good move for him that he really wanted.

100% agree with the sentiment but clubs will always look to take advantage of situations (just as we do) so if you accept a stupidly low price for a good guy once, you set a precedent.

Look at it the other way and you could ask why Milan rate him so poorly - at least with our transfer fee demands we are showing him we value him as a player - i actually reckon he understands, tbh i'd be a bit pissed if i was a genuinely decent £25m player and all a club would offer for me was (roughly) a quarter of that, i'd soon look elsewhere.

He's only 3rd choice if you consider gray to be a RB first. I think people are underestimating the number of games we are likely to have this season given the Europa League revamp and hopefully going further in the cups. I think he's going to be needed as thrusting gray in as back up RB and back up DMC is expecting a lot of the lad.
