Tottenham are willing to more than double Christian Eriksen's wages to secure their playmaker's long-term future.

But there are concerns that even that may not be enough to persuade the Denmark star to sign a new deal after he made it clear that money won't be the only consideration when it comes to making his decision.

He's on £100k a week because he hasn't signed the improved contracts we've been offering him the last couple of years.
I get that but you have to ask yourself why he didnt sign them surely?
If they were wonderful why wouldnt he?
Money talks. Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Because he wants to go to madrid. Or a club that in his words is a "step up". He did the same at ajax. We got him in the last year of his contract.

Have you not seen Wilfred Zaha miss out on a big move for the second year in a row because he decided to sign a massive deal at Crystal Palace so now they can demand an insane transfer fee for him?

Eriksen has made it clear that he wants a new challenge. If he had signed a new contract extension, Levy would have priced him out of a move.

@Bulletspur you don't think Eriksen is worth more than 100k pw then?
He could earn way more than that at any number of clubs and you know it.
Where did I say that? I disagreed with you because you bought into the disinformation from the Daily Mail. My understanding is that when we upped Kane's, Ali's etc wages, Erisken was also offered a substantial pay rise but refused to sign the contract. Because you chose to believe the Mail, you implied that the club did not value Eriksen.

If Eriksen is only on 100k pw then frankly we've been taking the piss and if I was him I'd leave on general principle.

He has categorically stated that he wants to move for reasons other than a financial one, but then again the Daily mail must be reporting the truth i guess.

Didn’t I see it quoted somewhere earlier in the window (maybe end of last season) that there wasn’t many teams he’d consider to move to and that he still may consider a renewed contract with us

Our 'rise' over the time he's been here has made a very difficult decision for Eriksen.
What once looked like a simple step up has been muddied by us closing the gap.

He now has to balance a place on the bench, a higher wage and possibly winning things (whilst screwing his current team over for a fee) with a starring role, a still excellent wage and possibly winning things.

If I was Christian I'd sign for the team that really want me, knowing that if one of the big guns really did they'd be willing to pay what I was worth in the future.

Wouldn't surprise me if he does sign a new contract. The lack of interest at what would have been a relatively low fee, can't feel good. It may have just tipped the balance in our favour? At least here, he's wanted.

LOL £200k a week. He'll get a £10m signing on fee with another club plus wages in excess of £200k a week in the summer. It will amaze me if he's here next season.

Who says we're not offering him a signing on fee?

My gut feeling is it has to do with him simply wanting a change and a new challenge.
If he has given the club notice of this, which I think he did sometime ago when he and Poch spoke in Copenhagen in that famous restaurant meeting and has also squared of with his family. I don’t begrudge him his move to Spain or wherever.
Yes Im pleased we are testing his resolve but in the end I wish him well as he been a fine servant to the club.

If Aaron f***ing Ramsey can pick up 600k per week after a Bosman, we're pissing in the wind offering Eriksen 200k. I'd imagine there's no signing on incentive in that package either.

Worry but financially this makes no sense. Eriksen has always let it be known that his ambition is to play for one of the Spanish giants. He has basically turned his back on as much as £10 million over the last couple of years so that he can be affordable to another club. Realising no doubt they won't want him enough to pay a fortune for him, unlike other players. It only takes one serious injury then a dream is blown out of the water. Nope not signing over the last couple of years makes very little logical sense

Eriksen ain't signing. Whilst we could get more money if he did, we paid peanuts for him.

If I was Eriksen, I'd be running that contract down so I can pick what team I want to join on a free transfer cos you can guarantee all the top teams will be talking to him. Giving him a £20m signing on fee and £200k per week.
