Or just perhaps, Mourinho has the ability to see that Dier has regressed mightily from the player he was interested in back then? I for one expect him to be ruthless when it comes to optimizing the playing squad.

Unfortunately for Dier, injuries and loss of form has really taken its toll.
This. Mourinho gave him a big chance and a run of games, and then, when Dier failed to perform, he rightly dropped him.

That's the strange thing, most of his time out of the squad seemed to be due to illness rather than injuries. Shame he hasn't been able to recover his form, looks a shadow of the player he was.

I love how Jose sees a player, gives them some time to prove themselves (even players he's wanted to sign in the past), if they don't meet his standards, that's it. He'll shift them on. Poch tended to have his 'favourites', would keep playing them, even when they had stopped performing.

Sadly struggling to get back to anything like the player he was before his illness, so I'm not sure where he fits into a Jose team. Maybe CB, but even there he doesn't look that comfortable.

Never understood Dier at CB. He has no clue as to what happens behind him. Just because he looks like a 38 year old Naybet at the age of 26 it doesn't mean it will all be good if only he can play as a CB.

For me it is DM or nothing. Right now it unfortunately looks more like nothing. Sad as he used to be one of my favourite players. Always gave 100% and a guy you could trust would go to war for Spurs.

Sorry Eric, but it’s time to leave. Too slow, inaccurate passing, awful positioning. Not good enough. Maybe go abroad where the speed of the game won’t expose your weaknesses.

I think he will go. If he was fully home grown then that might have a bearing on things but as he isn’t, I don’t think we will be that bothered about moving him on. We will need to raise funds somehow in the summer and he’s probably a good one to get money for. Will be a shame though, as I like him as a person and I think he’s important off the pitch but the appendicitis he got really has screwed him over.

Thanks. I am aware of the concept of "time".

Why make the past your sacred cow?
I guess you've changed, you've changed and how
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Fruit's grown rotten on the bough
Reap what you sow, with a counterfeit plough
Yeah, yeah, yeah
