When my Dad took me to my first game as a kid, watching Hoddle, ardilies, villa Archibald from the Paxton and then from the shelf, I one day dreamed that we would have the highest turnover of any club in London.

Feeling very emotional right now

Funny because it’s tragically true.
Pochettino said that the stadium was Levy’s dream. Not winning the Champions League Final.

I hope now he has achieved so many of his goals that he can push his talents into bringing some glory on the pitch.

Aw, your post made real enjoyable reading until you totally ruined it at the end. Ye should have put top 17 only and allow me to enjoy my ignorance....

I thought having West Ham in there was quite important. Shows that it actually means fuck all if you don’t make the most of it.

The French guy claiming Lyon were an elite club needs to have a gander at this list. Elite like the spammers?
Hilarious you equate “elite” with high earning and the next second have a go at ENIC for only caring about money and not winning enough trophies.

Try again ?

To be fair we haven't been far off that. We're talking about 90 and 180 Minutes of football from repeatedly winning various trophies. An extra player or two may have got us there sure, but it may not. Those days are just about the mental side of the game than they are the footballing side. We had good enough sides to beat the teams we played on the day (Utd FA cup semi especially)

Football is about fine margins. Of course on our day we could have won a match or two to win a trophy. The reality is that the squad was not strong enough to go for it all and we came up short. I believe that if we were not so obsessed about top 4 Poch would have won a cup but with the constraints it was not possible to go for the title and / or top 4 and win trophies with our squad. Even Leicester won the league with zero cup distractions that season - they played a total of 40 games, throw in a cup run or Europe it is more than likely we would have caught up with them.

I won't get exited about revenue until we are the highest spenders now that would be worth getting exited about .

All well and good for the BUSINESS that is Tottenham Hotspur, but it means absolutely feck all if the money is not used to strengthen the FOOTBALL TEAM that is Tottenham Hotspur.

He forgot that Spurs are a football team first and foremost.

Tottenham Hotspur is just one of many revenue generating businesses owned by or part owned by Joe Lewis, where bottom line is the king. Emotive attachment is far removed, and if a attractive offer was ever made, then I doubt they would even blink before selling.

The end game for Lewis and Levy was always selling the club. They’re gonna make billions in profit, so if a serous bid ever comes of course they will consider it.

Amazing how people can turn good news into a negative. Some people don’t know they’re born !
It's only a positive if it correlates with what we see on the pitch. UTD are third on the list but do you not think they would rather swap with Liverpool and have the success they currently have. We constantly hear about how well run the club are and how much revenue we generate and yet we spend so little on improving the most important thing which is the product on the pitch.

When revenues equate directly to what we see on the pitch and the trophies we have in the cabinet I will get excited when I see us high in the rankings.

I agree that many people will not care about our financial state. They will just want results on the pitch. That’s totally fair. That judgement might be made completely independently of these financial results.

But these financial results aren’t a reason to complain. Either cheer them as good news or ignore them and go and complain elsewhere about the bad transfer strategy or poor performance of players of whoever... but this is not the thread for whining !!

I'm not here to whine but I'm explaining why this means nothing to most fans or is at worst a slap in the face. We support a football team and are looking for sporting performance. Those celebrating business performance have different aspirations. (Probably shared with Levy).

They will want to protect their investment whilst under their ownership and key to retaining value and growing the overall worth of the club is the success the club enjoys on the pitch. CL qualification is crucial for generating revenue through TV and Commercial income that is associated with the exposure this competition provides. Maybe a season out of CL is manageable, but 2-3 seasons out, then it will start to bite on revenue streams and then have a detrimental effect on the overall value of the club.. Look at Arsenal as an example of being outside CL for 2-3 seasons. I'm sure Levy is conscious of this fact, but he'll need to act fast and effectively.
