Or ‘Let’s Gdansk’.
’Gdansking Queen’?
You are.

Ok, let’s take this fucker seriously. Unless of course we take an early lead in the league table. At which point I say we bin it. All things go well we’ll be posting pics of ourselves in Poland on May 26th 2021. Meanwhile we can fill in the bits in between on our Thursday nights.

Bring it on.

Cup win and automatic CL qualification please (unless UEFA suddenly turn around and say winning the competition won't count anymore, which seems inevitable now somehow).

Is it correct that we need Chelsea to win the FA Cup or we will face three one leg qualification games to reach the group stages?

Courtesy Football London ..
If Arsenal win the competition then Spurs will start their Europa League journey in the second qualifying round, with a behind closed doors one-legged tie on September 17, with the Gunners going into the group stage.

The third qualifying round follows the following week on September 24 and then the play-offs come on another week later October 1. All the qualifying rounds contain one-legged matches.

However, if Chelsea win the FA Cup then as they are already in the Champions League, Spurs would go straight into the group stages of the Europa League, which begin on October 22, and it would be Wolves who enter in the second qualifying round.

Gdańsk is a beautiful city, would love us to get to the final and make the trip out there

I hope we take it seriously, any cup that we are in for that matter. Winning mentality in every game we go into, not picking and choosing which games matter and which don’t. We are starved of silverware, it would be churlish to belittle any cup competition

Gdansk would be perfect for me - it's a fantastic city, cheap food and beer, and have family out there that can guarentee me a ticket and accomodation - happy days! :D

Really hope Chelsea win the FA Cup. I could see us fucking up a one leg qualification round and being knocked out of Europa by some 3rd tier middle of nowhere team.

Flew to Gdańsk spent couple of day’s in city to get my root canal done and still saved 2/3rd of the cost I would have paid at Copenhagen for dental

Small nice city - would be good on the wallet for fans...

Getting carried away ,aren’t we ?
Long long way to go - won’t be easy

Chelsea win = No Europa for Arsenal.

Good or Bad ? Financially a hit but clears they way with less to concentrate on ?

I think them being out of Europe and losing heavily is ideal, please. Fuck them and their egos. Fuck knows how they got this far?! At least you can say Chelsea gave this season a go, Arsenal have somehow stumbled to another cup final like a drunk who hit the bullseye blindfolded (again). Bored of it.

Bad for Arsenal, good for us.

Like you said europe is always a boost financially and more attractive for players. All else equal, we will once again be a more appealing option for players than Arsenal next season if they miss out on the Europa League IMO. Of all the big 6 sides, I think Arsenal is the team we'll have to worry about least next season, even without a crowded fixture list.

Of course its another hit to those scumbags pride as well.

Not to mention we don't have to play in the Europa League qualifiers if Chelsea win.

Agreed. Them being out of Europe altogether for the first time in... 25 years, something like that? That'd be hilarious. And while the Europa is very much the second child in terms of broadcast rights and prize money, we're still looking at potentially 10 extra home matches if we make the semi-finals from the group stages + potentially 2 depending on the draw for the qualifiers, if we have to go through them. The winner of the EL gets about £18m prize money + broadcast revenue, and English clubs do very well out of that due to the value of the market. It's not huge money (we made about £60m from the CL run last season, for example) but it's certainly worth having.

I assume that the UEFA coefficients come in to play for determining group seeding? As things stand we've got the highest coefficient of any qualified team, and that should help us if so - albeit I know Spurs' recent history seems to suggest we play better as the underdog in Europe!

There's arguments for and against how an EL run can stretch a thin squad vs. how it can blood youngsters and give fringe players a chance to prove themselves. Arsenal and United have done well this season giving players like Nketiah and Greenwood time in the EL, but to me it seems like it's best to play a lightly-rotated team at most as too many changes will rob the team of consistency... but that can lead to exhaustion later in the season. That's why Mourinho gets the big money, of course, and I'm just theorising on the internet.

Mourinho has said that he intends to take the competition seriously, which is good. I don't want us just to chuck away another chance at a trophy, not after 12 (soon to be 13) years without any trophy. It surely relies on us improving our squad, whether through signings, a fruitful academy turnout or fringe players coming good... but that's probably a discussion for another thread.
