Might be a short thread but in futile attempt for some optimism on here and as a way of toasting the new year I’ll start…

Mikey Moore being good for a game and being compared to Neymar

Demolishing Man City 4-0 at their place a couple of months back.

Thought that would kick start our run up the table, but instead it did the opposite!!

Genuinely mad to think that was only at the end of November

Losing to Man City to deny Arsenal and Arteta the title 😿

But, seriously, battering the Manchester clubs has been about it…

Mikey Moore full debut.

Signing Archie Gray and Bergvall.

Smashing both United and City at their places.

On top of what others have mentioned already, I’d add Lankshear’s first start and first goal, and seeing Johnson become a consistent goalscorer.

The shock and awe of the City results recently are very high up.
I got all the feels from seeing Mikey make his debut.
Winning at Old Trafford is always very special too.
There is a good few that had made me smile, laugh, hug others around me and plenty that have been the opposite of that.
I'm always an optimistic fan as I find this gets me through. I would never do without this club despite the pain at times. It is a wonderful release and provides almost incomparable moments of joy and pain. I won't ever walk away from that.
Happy new year all

- Dejan Kulusevski being recognised by the majority of the fanbase for what he is, our best player.

- Van de Ven's two runs from our own half to create goals for Johnson and Son

The perfect angle I had to see Sarr's goal v City as it bent around their defence.

Villa 4-0.

Deki's continued form and becoming undoubtedly our best player.

Madders' free kick vs Villa.

That surge of excitement everytime Mikey got the ball vs City.

City 4-0.

Brennan's goalscoring run.

United 3-0.

Archie Gray.

I know it's not a popular opinion around here but moving to youth development.

It's great to see youngsters I watched over the previous couple of seasons doing well on loan such as Keeley, Donley, Phillips, Devine, Scarlett, Abbott, Vuskovic etc, as well as those who stayed back such as Moore, Lankshear, and Dorrington.
And bringing in the likes of Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, and Yang might not see immediate returns but they give the squad a strong foundation for the next decade so we can finally focus on the shorter term.

This is a great point. We don't know for sure who will be successful for us but to have this many young players that we are excited about is really wonderful.

As you say there are no guarantees but I do have a good feeling about this group of players.
Just a shame we lost Odobert so early and then Moore as I think we'd have seen a bit more hope from our fans as we're seeing with Gray, and to a lesser extent Bergvall.

That video of all our goals in 2024 shows there is nothing much wrong with our attacking play and the sheer amount of goals being shared around compared to just being scored by Kane.
