Tottenham Hotspur are considering cutting short Gedson Fernandes’ loan contract with the club and sending him back to Benfica, it has been claimed in Portugal.

Seems sensible. Sadly he's not shown anything to suggest he's worth keeping in the squad & nothing to suggest he's going to improve anytime soon. If Dele can't get into an 18 man match squad this boy is way, way down the list.

Seems his development will be delayed the longer he stays with us. If we do send him back will it Negativity affect our relations with Benfica though?? Especially as we still have the cv loan/purchase in place

He came to us at a time that suited us and Benfica (he fell out with the at the time manager). I wonder if that state of affairs no longer exists and it may suit Benfica to have him back as they have a really weak midfield. They have European pedigree defence and attack but the midfield is not great

shame, I've liked what I've seen from him

I prefer him over Winks and Sissy

maybe there is something there that Jose doesn't like

In all seriousness what have you seen that puts him above Winks and Sissoko?

If he was our player on loan somewhere else I’d be recalling him. Little or no impact. Time to cut losses.

Seems pretty pointless keeping him.

Very unlikely to see minutes and we are not shelling out the asking price to make it permanent.

Best for all parties to cancel the loan. Didn't see him in the training video today either so maybe this is already in the works. (unless he's injured)

Seems like a decent prospect but he doesn't seem to have nailed down a position yet so for £40m it seems sensible to let the lad go back and get on with his career.
