I thought he said his body couldn’t cope with the strain of the Prem anymore? I’m sure he wouldn’t have been too upset if he had to play for half a season longer and play in a CL final.

And miss out on all that money in China, not sure that's realistic.

This is all very hindsightery isn't it.

Two, where unfortunately both down to Poch

1) The year of Leicester where we were hot on their heels in 2nd place. Game against Arsenal that Sunday had we won we would have gone top of the Premier League for the first time. Harry Kane had scored a wonder goal and Lamela was playing a blinder where we were leading 2-1. In his infinite wisdom Poch decided to take off our most effective player Lamela, a player who had Sanchez in his back pocket. Sanchez then goes on to score making it 2-2 where everyone said it was a travesty as Arsenal didn't deserve anything from that game. That one still pisses me of to this day and that is when I started to question Poch's game management.

2) Playing Kane who was not match fit in the CL final, leaving our most in form player on the bench. I was equally pissed off with Poch, and Kane for making himself available to play when he was obviously not match fit. A selfish and self centered attitude which also still pisses me off today.

Sissoko giving away a penalty 22 seconds into the biggest game of all of our lives with a needless handball.
It was more gamemanship where Mane intentionally kicked the ball at Sissoko's hand while he was pointing. Very unlucky and I do not class it as Sissoko giving away a needless penalty. No way do I blame him.

And the gooners were down to 10 men weren’t they? Shocking game management, and if I remember rightly some dubious keeping from Hugo for the equaliser.

And the PGMOL even stated that wouldn’t be a pen in the EPL - shocking shout that was by the ref (although Sissoko should have just worried about his own job rather than pointing to others). Hey ho - I’m trying to erase that non event of a spurs performance from my memory!

He had his arm needlessly out. I think it’s revisionism to say Mane did it on purpose. It didn’t look like that to me. Brain dead from sissoko. Don’t put your arm in that position in the penalty area. It’s common sense.

Fuck me, I still don't know how this could be handball. Biggest night of our lives and it was over in 45 seconds. I genuinely don't think I'll ever recover from this.

It was weird for me, took me a couple of hours to recover went out that same night, got pissed and forgot about it the next day. That match just eptimised us throughout the decade, so near but yet so far, typical way to come crashing down in Spurs fashion which is what I'm used to which is probably why I never really got upset.

Chelsea's beating us to the CL and Lasagne-gate affected me more but when this came around the feeling of failure had been etched into my soul by the club :(

I've watched the final back a few times and it's played out exactly how I remember it, such an anti climax in the end.

Agree with everything you say about Sissoko, but I think it’s conceivable that Mane saw it and tried his luck.

I was actually quite unwell whilst watching the game, which was actually a blessing in some ways because all I wanted to do after leaving our stadium was get home to bed and feel better in the morning.

And as it was the final act of football for the season I just refused to look at any paper or turn on SSN for a week and blocked it out of my mind.

I haven't watched it back at all, or the highlights or anthing. In fact that still imagine is the only thing I have seen of the final since. Can't bring myself to do it.

I went to the stadium that night to watch it and that somehow made it worse as it made it feel like the huge, once in a lifetime occasion that it probably was.

Isn’t this the first decade where we haven’t won a single trophy? Unless we are counting the Audi cup?

Pissing it down with rain as well which I feel like made it easier for Sanchez's pretty average shot to go in for 2-2

Maybe but watching it in the stadium that wasn’t my impression. And watching it on tv again I don’t think he did. That’s coming from someone who thinks Mane is the worst cheat and one of the filthiest players in the league and have done for 3/4 years. I think it’s sour grapes personally and sissoko (and trippier to an extent) have been given a very easy time from spurs fans since for helping to give a huge blow to winning the biggest game in our history. It was so hot that day, and whoever was chasing that game was going to be in trouble. Think back to how hot it was against Newcastle this season when we lost and add another 10 degrees and you’re about there. It was stiflingly hot.

Anyway, that’s me finished talking about that game. It’s passing me off even thinking about it again!

There have been a number of transfer windows when we could have 'gone for it' and we'd probably have won a league title.

Oh well...

That final, honestly i haven’t even watched a minute of it back...just getting to the final should be something to look back on with pride and had we given it our all i think i would be able to stomach it... but the way we went out with a whimper i honestly almost wish we hadn't got there as the whole thing is ruined for me.
