We need to work out how to maximise this rule. Getting it into the box and slamming against defenders is realistically a much higher percentage way of scoring than actually bothering to create chances.

I’m still angry about so many of those calls today. Especially some of our shouts that were completely glossed over. We definitely got robbed, but I think people are barking up the wrong tree on this one. Hojbjerg just fixes his eyes straight on him and leans his shoulder into him a little bit. Even though their player played for it a bit, those are called more often than not.
That’s your view...mine is not in a month of sundays is that a free kick to them..hojberg stood his ground and joelinton launched himself at him...laughable decision

That’s cool mate, I’m not gonna argue the toss about it because I’m pissed about so many things about that game/result and obviously wish it wasn’t given.

they just need to change the rule ASAP. The NHL had this stupid crease rule for one season that nobody liked and was sure how to officiate and they axed it after one season. It can be done.

Sorry, I actually think thats a free kick. We got robbed on all the other big calls and most of the 50/50 fouls during the game though.
You think someone launching themselves at a stationary player like a fucking torpedo should be given a free kick for their trouble?

have to agree to disagree on that one

Look it simple really, what we need is a GoFundMe page, raising funds to pay for VAR,

It’s probably one of them that could of gone either way. He played for it a bit maybe, but I think Hojbjerg does look to block him off going by his body shape and how he fixes his eyes on him. those get called more often than not and Hojbjerg didn’t complain about the free kick at all. I personally thought there were half a dozen other calls that were way worse.

Besides the stupid rules, i cannot brush away the feeling that VAR doesnt eliminate bribery or showing of bias completely. One could easily look into incidents for a team and while closing an eye for the other.

There was only one way for it to go. Joelinton jumped into Hojbjerg. How they got the free kick is beyond me.

Thinking of @MK Yid at this difficult time. :D

To be fair he's warned us about this rule change over and over. It's just a clusterfuck now.

Football is a simple and beautiful game being destroyed by VAR over complicating it. I’m getting to the point where I can’t be arsed anymore. Every match is ruined by VAR

to be honest, there is no common sense used, and these referees I doubt have ever played football, let alone jump in the air with their arms down by their side.

they should have looked at the free-kick awarded in the buildup. Joelinton threw himself into Hõjlberjg and even if he never Hõjberjg in no way could ever get out the way.

football is finished, shit referees throughout but when you have a wanker like O'Riely being in charge of the PGMOL then you'll always have a crap outcome

Totally. Now quite a few people are starting to understand that the penalties being given are totally correct in accordance with the new laws, (some people still will not be able to understand that though even if tattooed on their forehead), and players somehow will have to adapt, which they will to an extent. I hate the laws though. Handball has always really been accidental or deliberate (well really it has been avoidable or not avoidable), now it is basically was arm directly parallel with your body (tucked in behind or tight in front of chest will do) or not, intent irrelevant

Rarely been so angry but it’s not a VAR fault it’s the disgraceful referees and new handball rules

ref for the original free kick decision

New laws for the shocking lack of any common sense or in game knowledge

There's another angle of this and the referee isn't even looking at the incident. He has followed the ball and guesses on this decision.

To be honest this is what I hate, the handball decision is horrid we all know that. But to make it worse is the cumulative poor calls they make.

1. This is not a free kick.
2. Offside is a very close call and I don't think they started the line from Carroll's head which is the furthest point forward not his shoulder.
3. Lascelles pushes Dier, not a heavy push but until he does Dier's arms are by his side.
4. They spent a lot longer reviewing the handball than what was played after. Look at the Utd game yesterday and how long was played.
5. At least twice the ball touched one of their players arm in the box, was there a VAR review at those points?
6. Chelsea and Arsenal have both benefited from a handball situation this season, as above where is the consistency?

you can see the Newcastle player jumps into Hojbjerg,

When we get fucked over this badly there’s honestly no point being surprised when it affects our league position. Let’s just pray we win a cup to compensate.
