Where did you read that? Another Metro story maybe.
If any of those clubs have come in with bids they would have blown Spurs out the water. All big clubs were keeping an eye on Eriksen because of his well-known talent but his performances were very erratic so the big clubs were hesitant.
Err it wasn't just the metro I think it was the season / window before last summer when we got him.
But I think it was that he wanted more time to develop at Ajax.

“It took me a while to get to England because I said no a few times. Last summer, City really wanted to sign me, but it didn’t feel right.

“Dortmund was interested, and they approached me. I guess that they have contacted all the candidates they had, and I was one of the many,”Eriksen said.

“They were interested, and there was a phone call from them. But it’s a long time ago and a lot has happened since.”

“Maybe I wouldn’t have played there – I wouldn’t go to a club just to stay on the subs’ bench. I didn’t feel ready for a league like the Premier League, and now it looks like I moved at the right time.

A lot of players moved from Ajax in the last year and it gave me responsibility and made me grow. It made me better. It was exciting there, but you have to wait for the right club to come along.”

“I’ve read about the history of Tottenham and I have watched games over the years, so I know about the club and how they like creativity.

More than likely we could make a £17m bid...

Also more than likely that Draxler and Shalke will laugh their balls off when they receive it!!!

No mention of Real M. there though. One thing is to contact and expressing interest, while another is to come in with a concrete bid; which City apparently didn't when Eriksen was put up for sale.

Tbh, this view may be instantly disliked or abused
But eriksen was very very highly rated and regarded by all the top clubs. And we snatched him at what people will view as a very low price... Perhaps it's not that little for draxler ? But levy can work some incredible deals...
Eriksen came at a bargain price because he had 1 year remaining on his contract @ Ajax

If Levy really wants Drexler, he can afford it, because we have a glut of central midfielders whom we can sell to raise funds. But whether Levy would be willing to sell at less than what he bought those players for, I don't know, and indeed have my doubts. And whether the player is willing to come to us, that is another story.

This is like going to Mercedes and offering £1k for an AMG. Classic Levy.

It's a well known fact that Eriksen was linked with at least a couple of major clubs...I personally recall some completely valid Dutch newspaper articles in regards to Shitty, Manure, Bin Dippers, and Borussia Dortmund.
Those are just some of the clubs that were targeting Christian.

PS. There were also comments by various official sources (such as Marc Overmars, the Technical Director of Ajax depicting interest from SAF, etc).
