Some perspective here. Campos is not going to walk in here and suddenly change our whole transfer strategy. Campos doesn’t find the talent the scouts do, he is just accountable for taking the scouting recommendations and matching those to the manager’s needs and the club budget.
True but he will possess a huge list of potential targets, some of which may work out to be good for us.

I think we just all need to calm down about that. The needs of his current team aren’t the same as ours. We all got worked up about Arnesen, Baldini, etc.

I get what your saying, I'm not totally convinced this will work based on previous attempts, but we will hope that some good comes of it.

I do like the idea of us having a DOF again, I think it suits us as a club. Interesting debate over the last few pages on the success/failures of Arnesen, Commoli and Baldini.
I agree it can be argued that none of them necessarily brought us an absolute world beater all on their own (Bale perhaps?) however what I would say is it was consistent upgrades to the squad. Look at where we are now and where we were pre-Arnesen. Arnesen made the overall squad significantly better than it was when he joined and we progressed. With Comolli it was working forwards again, and I would say he left the squad again better than how he found it, and we progressed again. Then with Baldini, obviously having the Bale money made it more obvious in terms of expenditure, but again I would suggest that in my view at the end of his time the squad was once again in a better overall shape, and we progressed.

I do think a DOF is a good idea for us and one that has consistently improved us.

I'm sure its been said in previous pages, but remembering Baldini's job it did seem that deals got done more quickly. I'm not sure if that was down to how he worked, or if he was well connected with a lot of top level football people. Maybe this will be similar with Campos, but its hard to say at this point

If Campos comes in, I'd expect a lot of signings in the first window, most of them very cheap, young talents that we've never heard of in addition to a few players to improve the first team straight away. Seems to be his M.O.

Breaking | Luis Campos has turned down an astronomical offer from Newcastle United to become their Sporting Director, according to L’Équipe. He did inform NUFC that he might be able to make recommendations to them via his Scoutly company, if Lille President Lopez allows him to.
