I would like us to sign him because :

1) He is Croatian. Skillful, good touch and works hard.
2) Knows where the goal is and scoring for bolton consistently.
3) Battle back from two major illness. Tough mentality.
4) Will not cost much.

what do the rest of you think?

I've liked him for a long time. I'll always remember how he came on and showed that idiot Olic how it's done by scoring with basically the first chance Modric made for him v Turkey after coming on, Olic having missed a cricket scores worth of chances beforehand. He's playing very well. Will start next season as a 30 year old though, and after all his body has been through he may well not be up to top level football for much longer.

He would be a decent option for "4th striker" if and when Pav goes in January. Would probably be happy enough to be a squad player at a club of our size, and I wouldn't be adverse to him leading the line if we have inujuries.

Don't think Harry is going to sign anyone there though and will go with 3 + Gio for the rest of the season

No!

Currently he is helping send West Ham down. Maybe in the summer

if bolton are still debating about whether hes worth 1.4m (if todays rags are to be believed) then is he worth signing? im sure charlie and modric are in harrys ear about good croats so if they recommend him wouldnt surprise me if harry went for him

No thanks. See if we can do a deal with Dynamo Kyiv, and swap Pav plus some money for Artem Milevskiy

To be fair Olic was different gravy a week ago in the match against Juve for Bayern....

If Pav is to go in Jan, as expected, then there is only one man we should go for. RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD.

He will be the difference between us finishing in a Euro spot or not....

I'd love to have RVN at the Lane, if only for 6-18months.

Proven winner.

A splendid idea, but why limit our ambitions? I'm sure Barça would let us have Ibrahimovic if we asked very nicely.

Haha erm what? Not that it's going to happen, but how exactly is asking nicely if we can borrow one of the best and most expensive players in the world from the best team in the world at all the same as swapping a proven international striker for a not quite so proven international striker who has never played in a big league and would probably quite appreciate the opportunity to play in England, or at least wouldn't laugh in our face at the proposition? :-|

I know Olic is a good player, but he pissed me of no end in that game. Because of Modric, and also because I'm greek cypriot, I was supporting Croatia very passionately and was left quite upset by that game.

Would you swap Milevsky for Pav?

Milevsky might conceivably consider us if we could offer CL, but as this thread appears to be about a cheapo No. 4 in January he hardly qualifies.

Oh no I entirely agree with you on that point, I just didn't quite understand the Ibrahimovic comparison!

Well, if someone totally misunderstands the point of the thread and starts playing Fantasy Football, why not go whole hog?

Milevsky's already playing for a very good side who can give the best a tough game, and will probably have CL with them next season (and as Rangers just flushed Scotland's UEFA coefficient down the toilet, it wouldn't surprise me if Ukraine get two CL places, Kiev and Shakhtar deserve them on merit). He's going to take some persuading.

With the clamour for new signings growing by the day the nearer we get to the grand opening of the January transfer window, there is a more serious matter to consider - one that will not have escaped the attention of Board and Management team alike (let alone the majority of fans).

And that is we currently have over £20m of potential investment tied up in two 'assets' whom, increasingly and obviously, have no future whatsoever at this club.

I'm sure there are still quite a few bargains to be had out there at a cost of around £5m (or the equivalent of a Bale swap deal according to certain papers) - but freeing up that £20m? Just imagine the type of player we could get for that. Unfortuntely it's likely to be the summer transfer window before Redders gets his hands on the loot from the sale of Bentley and Pav.

He turns 30 is January and has had two kidney transplants

Now I know we are a short-sighted bunch, but a brace for Bolton is all it takes for people to think he'd be a good gamble.

Not great IMO. Wouldnt be a bad 4th striker but I'd like to maybe see a mason or obika get a few chances after a full season at yeovil. We dont always need to buy replacements. Would be nice to see a few youngsters blooded
