REFEREE: ---------- Chris Kavanagh ???????

TEAM FORM: =----- Sheffield WDLLL ------ Spurs DDLDW ------
((All Competitions)

Sheffield United (SU) are unbeaten in their last five top-flight home games against us (W3 D2) since a 1-2 loss in December 1975. They have failed to score in their last three Premier League (PL) games (D1 L2). They haven’t failed to score in four consecutive league games since April 2000 under Neil Warnock.

Having conceded 3+ goals in just one of 29 PL games this season, SU have lost both of their last two by a 0-3 score line. SU have only lost three consecutive league games under Chris Wilder once previously, losing three in a row in December 2017 in the Championship. SU have failed to have more than one shot on target in any of their three PL matches since the season returned.

We have won our last four PL games in Yorkshire, and awe are unbeaten in our last seven in the county (W6 D1) since a 1-2 loss to SU in February 2007. Our last competitive match in July was in the 1995 Intertoto cup, with us losing 0-8 to FC Koln in Germany.

We have never lost 12 previous PL games played on a Thursday (W7 D5), the best unbeaten record on a single day of the week for a cub in he competition. We are also unbeaten in our last 23 PL away games against newly promoted sides (W19 D4), since a 0-1 defeat to QPR in April 2012.

Mourinho has won 199 of his 324 PL games in charge. Victory here will see him become the 5th Manager to register 200 wins in the competition, with only Alex Ferguson reaching the milestone in fewer games (322).

Kane has scored 198 goals in 345 games in all competitions at club level in his career. (5 for Leyton, 9 for Millwall, 2 for Leicester and 182 for us). He has also scored 10 goals in just 9 appearances in Yorkshire – however, SU are the only side he has faced in the PL without scoring against.

I didn't really feel confident about getting results against UTD and the spammers, I do about this game so we'll probably lose!

They look a lot worse than they did prior to lockdown, and we look marginally better than we did.

We should be looking for no less than 3 points considering they have a few injuries, but we all know what usually happens when we should win a game.

Think it'll be tight, but we'll nick it. Kane with a brace to shut up Twatface Merson.

My heart is saying we will win this comfortably, but my head is telling me, "This is Spurs"! :(

Think it will be a tough game. They were shit in the first half today but at stages at the second showed bits of why they're where they are. It's the type of game in which I fear for someone like Sanchez, will definitely need calm heads at the back.

I just think you never know with us right now. At least you can maybe put a bet on that we'll be fairly solid, but currently I'm not sure how much more that guarantees a positive outcome results-wise as we can be so poor going forward. It's helped us in the first two games since the restart admittedly, lets see if it continues to do so. It will only last so long though without being better with the ball and better at establishing attacking patterns of play.

Against West Ham the player with the ball so often had so few options, until West Ham went a goal down and committed more players forward. Would like to see more movement, more players seeking the ball out and not hiding between the lines, but with that players who receive the ball need to be better at making use of it and not losing it so cheaply.

We'll edge this. We're looking better defensively and slowly improving on the attacking front.

Going 1-0, Kane.

I think they are suffering injury problems, poor form and have been very average since the restart. If Jose’s tactics are good we should win comfortably.

Well José has had 9 days between games so should have been able to work on our attacks. Hopefully we’ll see better movement and passing to give us a win. COYS.

The problem is that we attack in very rigid positions, mainly to keep a disciplined defensive shape in transition. There is zero interchange or diagonal runs. Son stays out on the left. Moura stays as an inside right. Dele stays as an inside left. Aurier runs straight lines on the wing. Our only unpredictability is Lo Celso's dribbles from the middle third, or Dele's 'tricks 'n flicks' (of which have repeatedly failed since West Ham away last October). Hopefully, this 9 day mini-break has allowed Mourinho and his coaching team to drill the players on reverting to the correct defensive shape from random positions in the last third. This will include when to 'disrupt' foul early (we were really great at this in Poch's best period!). Once the players can effectively and repeatedly get into Mourinho's' hexagon midfield / low block from any attacking position then I think we'll see the benefits of having so many attacking players in the pitch at the same time as the players will be given more license to roam in the last third.

I'm the other way around!

We have been poor away from home for ages but it has improved slightly under Mourinho. It will be interesting to see how we do without an away crowd as it is out first away match since lockdown.

I don't think we will sit back. Got a feeling Son and Bergwijn will be our most important players here getting in behind them.

He did say after the West Ham game that they have started working on attacking passages of play now. So hopefully we will see the fruits of their labour.

Ive been thinking this for a while. When one of our players is in possession, they never have more than one option to pass too. Nobody offers themselves up to receive the ball. Must be a tactic, but it leaves us looking very rigid and predictable.

They had a bad run recently with 3 losses in a row. We had more time resting whereas they have played 3 games in a week. Lundstram stretched off yesterday with a shoulder injury
I fancy a 3-0 win

Simple case of whether we can deal with their set pieces. Every free kick in our half, every thrown in they will pile all their big men into the box and onto Hugo. Arsenal could've conceded 4 or 5 like that yesterday. In the end it was only one.

It would be a good game for us to play v high up the pitch to prevent that happening, plus they have next to nothing in terms of pace in behind, will be interesting to see if Jose adapts.

I think we'll have some nervy moments, wouldn't be Spurs if we didn't however, we'll have enough to beat them and beat them well.
1-3.

With Arsenal reaching the semis of the fa cup I assume our scheduled game with them on the 12th July is now gonna be rearranged?

Hence the "hoping for better movement comment" in my post.

Assume it will be moved to last week of the season. Some ways works in our favour as it would have been our fourth game in ten or so days.

Least now we get a bit of a break between Bournemouth and Newcastle game.

Given the rush to finish the season find it amazing they are playing the FA Cup at the moment. Why didn’t they just do it in the week after the season? Could have played quater finals on the Saturday, semis on Wednesday and the final the following Sunday.
