Sevilla have held an emergency board meeting to discuss the future of Juande Ramos following the sacking of Martin Jol by Tottenham Hotspur.

Ramos is the front-runner to replace Jol at White Hart Lane having been courted by the Premier League club at the start of this season.

Sky Sports News understands Sevilla discussed the situation long into the night after Jol's exit was confirmed by Spurs after the Uefa Cup defeat to Getafe.

The Spanish club also sent sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Monchi to White Hart Lane for a meeting on the matter.
It is understood that Sevilla are now deliberating over whether to let Ramos go and, if so, how much compensation to demand. Reports have suggested that Ramos could be installed as Spurs' new manager next week, if Sevilla agree to his departure.

Ramos' profile has soared over the past two seasons after he guided Sevilla to back-to-back victories in the Uefa Cup.
Meanwhile, Leeds United have confirmed no approach has been received from Tottenham following suggestions that assistant manager Gus Poyet is wanted as Ramos' No.2 in North London.

I am slightly excited by the pending appointment of Ramos. I think he will kick a few players into form i.e. Jenas, Dawson, Kaboul, Robbo and kick some out aswell!

Hopefully it'll all be sorted very quickly, unlike a certain other previous regime change.

My feeling is that Lavy must have had a 'yes' from someone to finally pull the trigger. Now it's just the details to sort out (ie how much cash we give Seville & Leeds).

Agreed, hopefully there's not too much dealing to be done with Seville or it could end up dragging out for ages! Definitely think we must be close to a deal or as you say, Levy wouldn't have dropped Jol yet.

We need him very soon - a season of Clive Allen would most likely end up in a sticky relegation battle, methinks.

How much money will be made available to him? He has got to want to bring his own players in. Interested to see how much control over transfers he has and who he wants in

It should be a quick appointment considering how long they’ve been working on it

I'd be more confident that we would win a relegation battle with Allen in charge than Ramos .

Any port in a storm and all that but we don't need someone soon , we need someone right .

The board must think they have an answer to both but their past record at this sort of thing is worrying .
