Funny , to someone of my vintage to hear the current ground described as 'The grand old stadium'

For me there will only ever be one ,instantly recognisable White Hart Lane ,with the railings and the white tiers , destroyed in the 80s . For me , our stadium since has been generic and barely distinguishable from many others . No loss for me .

Good article...

But what is this current trend in journalism where this "5 things we learned..." shit?

Please don't take offence, but I find it to be a real dumbing down of journalistic writing in general. Is it lazy readership? Is it that people won't take the time to read an article of continous prose and prefer bulletpoint "Daah, dis is the tings in da article all listed so you won't get confused?"
people love lists, seems the best way to get clicks. From listening to podcasts quite a few journalists in all different areas have stated that these kind of articles even though not really in depth do supply a large amount of website traffic. I assume people like quick snappy articles sometimes.

Unless of course you were only born in the early 80's like me then the ground is a grand old stadium especially compared to other ground you get these days such as the emirates, etihad etc. I didn't go to white hart lane till the last eighties when i was a kid.

Obv we're different vintages , but I expect you would recognise a pic of the iconic stadium prior to the 80s..

Haha...best I could come up with

I just cannot fathom out why the major national papers employ idiots and not you. Maybe it's time that you SCers in the UK should campaign for Ally to write for a major paper.

That's very kind sir, but I'm very happy where I am and have loads on my plate as I've got to still put out four local papers on top of the Spurs stuff. Also there are plenty of splendid writers out there at the nationals.

oh i do, loved the old style look but things had to change with stadium design and seating. I have a load of spurs books and some great FA history books charting the years from when it was formed. It has a lot of photos over the decades.

The five or seven or ninety things we learned is just a current newspaper device
which implies that this is more than just someone's opinion
but proper factual,revelatory stuff.

Wasn't Dele on the bench because he had been ill?
Otherwise he would have started surely especially at home.

Good stuff.
