While everything is settled for a departure in Tottenham, the defender of the PSG Serge Aurier still awaits his visa.
Serge Aurier did not find an epilogue Tuesday, as expected by his lawyers. As a reminder, Tottenham and the PSG have found an agreement around 25 Mâ ?? ¬ (plus 2 Mâ ?? ¬ of bonus). A five-year contract awaits the Ivorian defender (24) at the Spurs . While the visa application has been launched, it has still not been validated. Anything is possible. Just have to wait and see.

Hoping the appeal was successful, as mentioned by Herc, and we are simply keeping the info private until it's all signed, sealed, and delivered.

If the club has heard the result and it was negative we would know. Either the word would have been put out via the ITKs or would have leaked from Aurier's entourage so as to get him a move to another club.

I don't think we go to this length without putting contractual provisions in place to prevent it. I would assume that they required an agreement signed but conditioned on the visa/wp.

when i've been in a job requiring a work permit, the company has applied on my behalf saying they are sponsoring me and if I were to change jobs the new company would have to reapply. If Spurs have applied then the outcome should be tied to the club. Man Utd or any other would have had to apply for their own permit. Assuming football works the same as other jobs. The Home Office website says the sponsor has to provide a 'certificate of sponsorship'.

Incidentally, when I changed jobs I had to leave the country and come back. Nice way to have a week's holiday paid for by your employer :)

Thats my take, the application has to come with an offer of employment which would need to be from club

aren't we the 'sponsor' ir something similar for his permit/visa - so it would be accepted on the basis he signs for us. or have i totally invented that to convince myself?

Footballers don't tend to be employees of the clubs for tax reasons.

They save a lot of money if they're set up as a limited company and then sign with the club on a contractor basis.

I don't think the same sponsorship rules apply for contractors.

I think we will get this one across the line...just. The club realises it needs a Walker replacement and that Trippier is not it.

And that is why we are waiting till the last moment so that there is no time for anyone else to jump in. I never wanted this player for the reasons I have previously stated and he doesn't really want to play for us he wants Yanited. If this comes off he will play act at the end of the year.

@Leics_Spur why just the disagree?

If you think different, fair enough but I know this is the case. Don't just hide behind a rating.

You save so much tax as a limited company on a fixed term contractor, you'd be stupid not to do it.

so who applies for the visa? the player? surely he has to show an offer of employment.

100%
This is the law in applying for UK or in EU. Done it myself.

But , we have to be careful here - we do not know whats in his application. We are assuming main sponsor in his application is Spurs. His visa type could be freelancer type visa sponsored by his agency or any 3rd party agency based in UK.

All I would say is, if we are putting so much effort in this deal, we would have done enough to protect our interest & not let him go to other clubs.

Pretty sure, if he gets the visa, he joins us.

I think it must be the player in this case but obviously he will have a lot of legal help from the club.

It makes me think he must have signed some sort of agreement already with the proviso that if the Visa or work permit wasn't granted, the contract wouldn't come in to effect.

Spurs will have protected themselves.

Good points. And you'd expect so! We'll see. Various reports say it is due before midday.

Spurs must have locked him in pre- contract agreement before applying for work permit and visa.
