Why would he have had had his medical in france yesterday if it was going to be a no go the very next day?

Negative day so far with Sancho and Aurier news....

Graeme Bailey - Tottenham remain hopeful Serge Aurier deal will be done before Burnley match on Sunday. https://t.co/VKp7UZDu17 #thfc

Marc Benamram- Main source in France leading on the Aurier to #THFC story now claim that a deal may not be complete by deadline day due to permit issues.

Talk about conflicting info. Everything I can see from France is about completion of the medical though...
I thought you can sign someone subject to a work permit being granted?

I'm pretty sure there is no new report in France saying that this is a no-go, the L'Equipe story is just being twisted negatively by randomers like 'Marc Benamram'.

He obviously can't take his medical here yet, hence getting it done in France. I don't see as we'd go to those lengths without a deal being in place. Quite a lot of transfers are agreed/announced pending medical or work permit, see Sanchez. So now we have sorted the medical, I expect we'll announce it pending a work permit.
Looking at the comments about his paperwork coming through in time, if we've done everything we can do, and all other paperwork is lodged, surely there's grounds for an extension.

Agree I didn't think work permits had to be completed before the deadline. That would make no sense. If we had signed Sanchez on deadline day subject to a work permit the deal would still go through.

Yeah, I am, although I know not a very popular opinion  Poch did try that on one occasion and I supposed he decided against that idea.

Anyway, I am not complaining Aurier is coming and if Sissoko is leaving!

Sissoko could become a good RWB - but I mean, if my auntie was able to grow a nice set of testicles she could probably pass as my uncle. But we'd all know it was a lie.

I think he's too rough around the edges... It's mind-boggling to me that he's a French international.

No the rules are the

In order to register a player, clubs have to send the Premier League all the documents relating to the transfer, including the contract, the transfer agreement, permission to work in the UK (if required), international clearance if transferring from abroad as well as any transfer levy that may apply.

The work-permit criteria are detailed in the Premier League rules. A player has to meet the criteria if he requires permission to work in the UK.

A club needs to have applied for a work permit prior to the window closing.

Its part of the deal sheet. I believe if clubs require work permit applications the FA can help to speed it through

Yeah, who is this guy. Had never heard of him before, but he's all up in my timeline the last few days.

Aurier has already rejected the 5 month Juve loan option (they have 0 non EU squad spaces left), and unless I'm mistaken, didn't inter just sign Cancelo on a season long loan?

I'm fairly relaxed that this is will happen. It looks like we've agreed a fee, personal terms and a medical. That sounds pretty close to me.

Sounds like we've agreed a fee, agreed personal terms, and hopefully he's passed yesterday's medical. Paperwork can be submitted pending work permit, which means ot can't get hijacked, then just sit back, crack on with other incoming targets.
Why go to the trouble of getting the medical done if there is still doubt over the legalities.

Aurier has binned the Juve option, the appeal was successful, the fee has been agreed, the player has agreed terms, the medical has been done and the paperwork is being processed, for what reason do people think this won't happen?

He's currently an outlaw :D

So the club has to have applied for a work permit, doesn't that mean it isn't saying the work permit has to have already been granted.
