Anyone seen this guy in action, seems to be able to play at both full back positions aswell as on the wings.

Tottenham cleared to sign Sebastien Corchia as he confirms Sochaux exit

Tottenham have been cleared to sign Sebastien Corchia in the January transfer window after he confirmed his intention to leave Sochaux.

Corchia, 22, has been tracked by Spurs scouts for months, with Andre Villas-Boas strongly linked with a £5million bid over the summer.

The offer never arrived, but Villas-Boas remains keen on the player, and has now been given the green light to sign the player in the New Year.

‘I can leave Sochaux in January – the club have spoken with interested clubs,’ said Corchia.

I prefer to focus on the present at the moment, but leaving in January is a possibility.’

Corchia is widely regarded as one of the best players in French football, having impressed for Sochaux following his move from Le Mans in 2011.

A quick, strong and committed right-back, he can also play at left-back and on the wing, and would offer competition to Kyle Walker at White Hart Lane.

Sochaux are thought to want around £7million to consider doing business.

He's VERY good.
He's not as fast as Walker, but he's intelligent. Something Walker sadly isn't

Probably the end for Naughton at Spurs then. Either way, happy to see some competition for Walker. He/we could very much use it.

And (more concerning to me) probably for Smith too.

Ah, very true. Really would like to see us hold on to him. Looked a very good player in the U-21 Euros and there's nothing but very positive reviews coming out of fans for the teams he's loaned to.

I haven't seen this guy play but I thought Arsenal were favorites for him...

Personally I thought Smith was almost ready to step up but he seems to be kind of stagnant right now. I really like his style of play.

Never seen him play but Wiki says he has played 156 games for Le Mans/Sochaux and U-17/18/19/21 for France, as others have said it would be great for Smith to step up and hold the RB spot, admittedly i don't know enough about where Smith is in his development, if this guy is better than Walker though then selling Naughton would make sense.

Walker is still learning - he's still young and will make mistakes but the potential is huge.

Not sure what everyone see's in Smith. Unless he is a late developer, then I don't think he will make it at Spurs. He is only 1 year younger than Walker and he was dropped by Millwall last year and is struggling to get in the Derby side.

At this age, Walker was an England international, and has a fantastic season as our first choice RB (and we finished forth that year) after having 1/2 a season as Villa's first choice right back. Even Kyle Walker was starting a successful loan at Norwich at that age.

Sorry, but I just don't see him making it unless he is a late developer.

Nonsense rethoric like this really annoys me: "Tottenham have been cleared to sign Sebastien Corchia in the January transfer window after he confirmed his intention to leave Sochaux." Wtf does that even mean? Its not like its a done deal or anything.

Anyway, i wouldnt mind him for a reasonable fee but we are probably not the only club interested.

But it sounds more dramatic than a young french full back could be leaving his club in January. He may come to England, he may stay in France and go to one of the big money clubs or he could end up somewhere else, the truth is we don't know.

His contract expires in June 2015.

I really like him, he really reads play well defensively and is very composed so not prone to giving away too many free kicks in dangerous areas unnecessarilly. Attack wise he tends to pass and overlap and again is very composed in his final cross or pass. He lacks Walkers tremendous pace but is fairly quick but defensively and offensively to me he is so much better than Walker even allowing that Walker plays in a tougher more intense league
I was hoping we'd sign him in summer and I actually though OL had signed him but it didn't happen, I hope we can nab him January and with Walker continuing to struggle surely AVB must be seriously thinking about a decent first choice RB

Corchia is a really promising player. I still think he ends up at Arsenal in the end, but I'd love to have him here. To me, he is almost like a more physically gifted Adam Smith. He's got the ability to contribute in attack similar to Adam Smith can. Very good on and off the ball but always is cognizant of what's happening around him. Doesn't over commit but knows the right time to attack a defense.

I think he's definitely quicker than Smith and probably a better technician than Smith in terms of tackling/positioning. One of my few misgivings about Smith is his occasional lapse in positioning and when that happens and with him not being the fastest of fullbacks, it can leave a defense in a pickle.

I'm a huge fan of Smith, though and I think he could be a fantastic backup to Walker if AVB rates Walker as highly as it appears he does.
