Like always, my judgment is mostly on the performances.

I’m just hoping performance are good enough for a top 6 finish and a sign we’re moving in the right direction.

34 % state winning a trophy as a minimum requirement. We finished 17 in the league, won EL playing defensive boring football and start the season with a new manager.

I know we have the Super Cup as well, but a minimum? Come on.
As one person said, it might have been me, otherwise what's the point?

I missed it saying as a minimum.

I’ve changed my vote from top 6 to top 10.

It still depends on the state of the squad, particularly if the expectation is t go deep in multiple competitions.

Top eight and get to the knockout stages of the CL.
But, more importantly, see the likes of Gray, Bergvall, Tel, Odobert, Udogie, Moore etc, really start to push on for the season after.

I expect us to win the Super Cup then lose to Burnley just to beat City, anything else and I won't recognize this club anymore.

Forget last season it has to be top 6 minimum. We are better than 10 even with the players we have. A good manager ....and I believe Frank is a good manager....will get a lot more out of these players and with the youngsters another year older and wiser I would hope we could be looking to get inside that 4 or 5 position. I also think that teams like Brighton, Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest wont have such a good season and will possibly fade which will make our chances even higher. Top 3 are settled Liverpool. Arsenal and City the rest is up for grabs.

By minimum requirement this suggests the manager could get fired if not met.

I certainly don’t think he’d be in the firing line if he finished outside the top six.

I think it depends on levels of progress and momentum, rather than a specific league position.

One thing I don't understand is why teams competing in Europe don't play each other more often the following weekends, to keep the playing field more level. We were badly affected by this last season, particularly compounded by the injury situation meaning fatigue was a huge factor in our performances (see the Leicester game for a good example), and we seem to have got the thin end of the wedge again. Our games after European fixtures are as follows:

Brighton
Leeds
Everton
Man Utd
Fulham
Forest
Burnley
Man City (and they might even been in a position to rest players for the CL game having already qualified for top 8)

Only one fellow European qualifier.

For comparison:

Arse 3 games v European qualifiers

Man City
West Ham
Palace
Sunderland
Chelsea
Wolves
Man Utd
Leeds

Chelsea 3 games v European qualifiers

Man Utd
Liverpool
Sunderland
Wolves
Arsenal
Everton
Palace
West Ham

With nine PL teams in Europe, you'd expect a minimum of three games against fellow qualifiers, if not more. And if the PL wanted to help its teams do well in Europe, surely it should be taking this into account? And is it a complete coincidence that we are worst off again?

Don't really know where to post this but Brighton have just agreed a deal for Maxim De Cuyper!

They don't half smash it when it comes to transfers! He's a player I like a lot and someone I feel we should have looked at as competition for LB 🤦🏻‍♂️

Best place to post for this

Expecting us to make a slow start to the season as the players learn how to play the system TF wants. Hoping for the second half of the season to show has making real progress and moving quite swiftly up the table. Finishing about eighth.

I’m expecting a fast start as the players realise they don’t have to follow Ange’s instructions and can play the way they’ve always been taught to play. Then, when TF’s tactics kick in, we accelerate towards glory! And I expect us to Win every game we play until we don’t.

If we don’t buy at least 2 quality first team starters (dm & winger) expectations are minimal. We’ll be better organised but we’ve not got anywhere near enough to compete.

Yeah that’s kinda my thinking. We won’t hear our CL draw until IIRC end August which will have a significant impact.

We’ve got four games before the CL starts I think, including away to Man City and West Ham. Seven or more points from those games would be OK and suggest we’re putting in decent performances. A poor start with poor performances would mean entering the CL period with tons of games, significantly less time to practice and prepare for each and low confidence from fans and possibly players.

I’d expect better performances on the pitch. I’d expect the squad to struggle with the extra games, particularly when we have a handful of key absentees for the start of the season. I’d expect 8-12 at the end of the season.
