He’d be a decent signing if we hadn’t already spent nigh on 100 million on Lo Celso and NDombele.

Yes but Poch was always after a second creative midfielder and never truly got one. He had chased after Barkely and Grealish with the idea that we were too dependent on Eriksen. Last summer we continued to be strongly linked with the likes of Bruno, Coutinho, and Dybala even after bringing in GLC . Our continued dependence on one playmaker is an obvious weakness of the squad -- if that one player is injured or in poor form we're fucked.

So for me there's definitely a place for Szoboszlai in the squad. As a 19 year old he's been one of the top performers in the Europa League this season, he's got all the tools to become a top player, and he's available at a price that fits our pandemic-constrained budget. This is exactly the type of signing that we have thrived on over the years. I'm all for it.

I agree with this, especially considering his age he wouldn't be expecting a starting spot I wouldn't think, but aren't Arsenal all over him? Ether way I don't see it happening as even 24 mil seems like it might be a little rich for our blood ATM and I would assume a DM, RB, CF and possibly a CB might all be ahead of another attacking mid regardless who it is.

Depends who leaves the club. He’d likely lineup as an attacking No. 8 in a 4-3-3. Jose seems to love Dele but for me he’s something of an odd man out, Sissoko could easily be sold, and Lamela could also go if the right offer comes in. Szoboszlai could definitely be seen as a young, affordable replacement for a player who is sold to bolster the transfer kitty.

If Watford get relegated, would Deeney suit people's needs? I think he'd be an inspired signing personally.

The kind of one we’d make under Redknapp. Everyone would moan but then it would turn out to be a good move.

There’s no real evidence Jose wants to move to a 433 at the moment. He loves Dele and i find it hard to envision him playing a system that doesn’t get close to the striker.

There’s not a great deal of difference between a 4-3-3 and a 4-2-3-1. Whoever lines up as the No. 10 can just as easily drop back to cover ground in the midfield, essentially forming a CM3. Look no further than the work Lamela did to win the ball back and create the second goal against West Ham.

Dele is a valuable asset who wouldn’t get in our best XI if we were able to integrate Ndombele by bringing in a DM who can cover for his deficiencies. He’s also not performed well in some time. We’re going to have to make sales to generate a transfer kitty, and for me he’s the obvious choice, though you’re right that Jose seems to love him.

On the striker front Why did we not go for Danny Ings 20 goals this season and counting?
He refused us before going Soton, he feels or believes with Kane he wont start many games, and he needed game time tbf, i wouldnt be adverse to having him, but he dont wanna come, also now his price would be more hefty due to good season

I think with a few of these suggestions it's forgetting to take into account what Mourinho likes in a player, and I see no evidence thus far at Spurs that he'll go away from this:

Think it's almost certain he'll be after a couple of really solid 'pure' defensive types at centre back and also in centre mid to bolster the foundations.

Further forward he'll want players capable of fast transitions/counters. As for any centre forward, it will be a mix of someone with pace and power, can link play but also be mobile enough to take part in said transitions.

And then there are the general qualities he loves - disciplined players who will follow instruction and do whatever is asked of them, will go the extra mile for him, sacrifice themselves for the cause, etc.

I’m still surprised there’s been virtually no links to Malang Sarr, young, left foot CB and free, I’m not 100% sure how good he is but he ticks a lot of boxes

I think Ally Gold mentioned him the other day as an option for us. Could definitely be wrong, though.

Well, it's one of either his agent's asking for crazy wages or he's just not good enough to survive in the PL. Let's face it, good free transfers are gonna be like goldust in the next window.

Thanks for info. Shame he thinks that as H only gets to play half a season and we have recently been a Champs League team he would have got a lot of game time.

I think Douglas Luiz plays like PEH, but better on the ball and a bit quicker. If Villa go down, he'd probably be affordable for us and I'd rather we signed him than PEH.

The City buy-back/sell on would make the deal a bit more difficult.

10 years between posts btw.

I would prefer British talent where possible. I see no reason why we couldn't get Eze in to fill that particular void.

I'm not convinced by Deeney myself. Top professional though.

I like the strategy of raiding the relegated and clubs who don't get promoted though.

Surely we've got to be keeping a close eye on the likes of Ake, Wilson, King, Rice, Anderson, Diop, Aarons, Godfrey, Cantwell, Lewis, Pukki, Grealish, Mitrovic to name a fair few.

Anyone mentioned Milot Rashica? Currently got a Bremen game on in the background....heavily involved in the game.
