Berge played CB in a U21 national game against England two years ago. He got destroyed by Rashford. If I remember correctly England won 6-1.
And u21 isn´t exactly "senior level" now is it. And if your right (I think you are), it just proves my point: he´s no cover for CB. :)

:wacky: Jees louise.... I don´t have to look at internet sites to check where Sander Berge´s position on the field is: I have watched him live for years. First of all: Norwegian football is played in calendar years - there is no such thing as the 15/16 season. It is either the 2015 or the 2016 season. OK - so he played one game as a CB 4 years ago. Against a team that had to play qualification to survive in the top league (and was relegated the next year). I´m telling you mate: he´s not a cover at CB for a PL side.

I agree - even though he probably has played CB a few times, I don't think that's been more than covering for a few matches. Anyway, look at it from a different perspective; He should be able to drop down between the CBs like Dier does when we're in possession (pushing the fullbacks forward), so that's a good thing I guess :)

I've heard in the Norwegian media that he actually had to choose between sports (I think he was hugely talented at Tennis as well). Might not be so interesting, but it tells you he has some athleticism and he's not just a big lump like Fellaini. I'm not saying he's the next Modric, but he is probably the most exciting prospect out of Norway (together with Ødegaard) in decades. The difference between him and Ødegaard is probably that he took the sensible route out of the Norwegian league (which is poor) and went to Genk rather than Real Madrid (or any other top club).

Also, to make a point, Leon Bailey (who most on here is raving about) played for Genk a year ago. Most of us probably wouldn't be over the moon signing him then, but after a year in the Bundesliga his reputation is somewhat different. It is possible to think that the same would be the case for Berge. If he went to Sevilla (who's been tracking him for ages) then suddenly a year from now everybody would be hoping we would sign him for a much bigger fee. Again, not saying he will be the best thing since sliced bread, but I think people forget that these "under the radar" signings are often the same players we want in a year or two.

Good summary and post ?

Genk usually have a good eye for talents. For example Leon Bailey and having Cortouis and KdB coming through their academy. This could be a good buy (maybe not for immediate impact).
Don’t forget Milenkovic-Savic and Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli).

Hercules says we haven't gone for him so assume nothing happening.
Making his suggestion that we know about him odd. We know about thousands of players we aren’t interested in.

Have to assume that we were considering a bid but have decided against ?

A £15 million signing - sounds likeliest out of the names in the Transfer Rumours forum...
