Say we sign him and no one leaves. Where does he fit in to the starting XI? I think he's a talented player but he turns 24 this year. There are clearly flaws in his attitude which are holding him back. Dele has only just turned 21 and has already achieved way more than him. We all appear convinced that Poch can turn him around where others have failed.

He doesn't necessarily have to. We have an outstanding first XI which, with our financial restraints atm, would be very hard to improve upon. However one injury or suspension (which we do in fact already have to start the season) and we're outside of that quality quickly and need as near as good as to come in and replace. We have to improve depth quality, squad game now. Who do we have to come on and positively impact a game?
Also, exactly what was said about VW this time last year.

I remember Barkley having a fairly decent game against us (unfortunately for him he came up against the best defence in the league), so I watched his highlights from the game...

I'm even more convinced he would be a success for us and it's also convinced me that this isn't a player with nothing between the ears.

Look how he is constantly looking to get his teammates behind our defence, move the ball at a quicker tempo, play one-touch, skip past his marker, now imagine him alongside the likes of Dembele and Wanyama in the centre with Eriksen, Kane, Alli and Sonny moving into those spaces he's pinpointing. Very confident at dropping back and taking the ball off defenders too.

Also, this isn't a player who sits back and admires the pass, he's looking for the return or he's working hard to track back and put a tackle in. Absolute certain he'll fit into Poch's press and intensity.

I honestly think Koeman has taken the hump with him because he is always expecting more as he is the player everyone is looking to for that something special or extra and he is unable to do it as consistently with those around him. Well, he won't have that extra pressure on him with us because we have Eriksen, Kane, Son, Lamela and Alli who can all produce, so the burden is shared. Secondly, those same players should be able to help him increase those goal and assist tallies, which are very respectable.

Yep, I'm onboard with this signing.

Thanks for sharing mate - the support he would get from his fellow attack minded players at spurs would be much more helpful than anything he had at Everton,.

I can honestly see him being a big success with us and slotting into our team very well from the offset

Agreed. Spurs is the team in the league with the highest level of competition for playing time. It did Walker in, Sissoko in, etc. We don't know yet how Barkley does with fighting only to get minutes on the pitch, he has needed to do that for some time.

JJ liked this post of mine yesterday evening...

I'm taking that as it's looking good but he's still a bit too expensive as he also did the emoji of the dollars face.

Fingers crossed we can tie this up soon.

Hopefully we can get it over the line so he can have a Poch pre season.

I'm really excited about Barkley potentially joining.

He's only 23!

I'm 21 and don't even have a girlfriend/chance of finding a girlfriend.

I've just turned 40 and the same mate. So from the scene in Life of Brian.......' you lucky lucky bastard!'

Despite the fact there seems to be a lot of indifference to Barkley on this forum, you can guarantee if Arsenal nip in and sign him, that those same people will castigating Levy for too much haggling or something similar
I'm finding it hard to understand the indifference to be honest, since when do Spurs fans question bringing in someone of his quality?

As we sit here now, our first X1 is very strong, but the vultures are hovering and it is quite posssible that in a relative short period these vultures will have pulled away the spine of the current 1st X1 and we replace with players who do not have same level of quality. The landscape has changed dramatically in recent months and we appear for whatever reasons been a victims of our success

The only way Levy's strategy works is if there's no one else in for the player. If arsenal are in for Barkley it's game over.

I hope he sees what Pochettino has done for our other English players, and how he has matured young talent and gotten the quality out of them.

If so, there's only one choice imo

Though it could be argued they didn't have much talent in the first place the British players at arsenal have all regressed or stood still .
