Is anyone else feeling deflated thinking our two top attacking targets are Zaha and this guy? They are both ok, but really? We're the 15th biggest club in the world.

You really have to wonder what the hell is going on with our scouting department. There's either zero trust from poch in their abilities to spot a player or they are just not very good.

We are seemingly willing to drop 40mill pounds on 1of these 2 but can't spot a superior talent anywhere in the world who's club would be falling over themselves for 50mill euros.

All the ITK says is we're looking at him, as I'm sure we're doing with a lot of players.

I actually went to see a Fluminense game and whilst I remember him playing I don't recall him doing too much to stand out.

Having said that, he was spoken about very highly by the media and was always amongst the weekends highlights. He's not your traditional Brazilian in the sense that he wants to party when not playing (like Neymar). He's more like Jesus in the way that he continuously works hard and has more focus, can imagine that's something Poch will like about him.

He's got a lot of room for improvement but I do believe that he has a lot of what we are looking for. Him and Malcom are two that I'm keen on.

The thing about Richarlison is that it is easy to make a highlight reel of him looking brilliant. Unfortunately you could also make a lowlight reel of him looking considerably less of an attacking threat than a bag of wet sand.

The truth is somewhere in between. It is true that he frequently misses absolute sitters that the bag of sand would put away with ease but you have to remember that the bag of sand would rarely get in to the position to convert those opportunities.

If Poch could somehow train Richarlison so that his finishing skills were on the same level as say Steffen Freund or Didier Zokora we'd have an absolute goal machine on our hands (y).

This is pretty accurate. He's got a lot of talent for getting in the right positions with flair, dribbling and good runs off the ball but his concentration seems very lacking and his finishing is pretty much atrocious. I'm one of the few that think he won't be able to make the step up to our level and I think he'll be stuck at mid level in the prem. I would be really happy if we sign him and I'm proved wrong but I have my doubts.

Is it weird that I think people would be much keener on him if he was coming straight from Brazil rather than having got a bit of Premier League experience and made a very good start?

He's raw and has loads to work on but he's 20 so thats to be expected. He also needs to work on his finishing but I'd rather a player who gets into and makes his own chances to finish than one who rarely does. The most Big Chances missed this season according to OPTA is Mo Salah and I'm sure nobody here would turn him down. The xG stats nerds think that his underlying numbers are pretty good too which indicates a fairly decent player.

He's not coming in January, I very much doubt, but if he keeps up roughly the same production he has in the first half of the season then he'd be the dream for me in the summer. All of the flaws in Zaha and Mahrez's games are much less likely to be ironed out given their ages so I'd rather have a younger model for our excellent coach to work with.

Should give Neymar a call imo

Youtube him looks an immense prospect tall and can finish and good dribbler and deceptively quick!
And hopefully drives opponents literally insane at the mere sight of him. But in a different way to Iain Dowie.

I would rather take a punt on Alexander Sorloth

They're not even remotely the same type of player so I'm not really sure how Sorloth is relevant. That's like saying "Forget Sessegnon, let's sign Tammy Abraham" or something. Just a completely unrelated player so it makes no sense.

Righto, so you're implying there are no footballers in existence who's talent lies somewhere between Zaha and Neymar.

Good point

No, just think it's funny that you talk as if Zaha and Richarlison are N'koudou/N'jie levels of tripe. Not really sure there are many players of a higher level that are either affordable for us or would be willing to come

I love watching Richarlison, he's an exciting player for the future. He reminds me of an aggressive and better version of Bolasie/Townsend. He has a lot of potential

Would Bordeaux pack Malcom's bag and send him on the soonest Eurostar to London if we offered the £50 million it would maybe take to land zaha...most likely!

But then You're left with a player who could be total trash in the English league like the N' Bros .
I get our dilemma, we may be a top 15 European club but unfortunately wages aside were more like a lower midtable prem club with spending power until this stadium is fully wrapped and debt free

So it's safer to shop in England right now
