Has zidane been told by the higher ups not to pick bale and drive him out. He said today that if he had a 4th sub he still would have not brought on bale. He said he doesn't fit in to his team.
It's quite incredible how far Zidane is going to force Bale out of the club. Treating him this badly in the press is as likely to cause Bale to stick two fingers up at them and stay to wind down his contract as it is to make him want to leave.

They were saying on the Football Weekly podcast that this Zidane quote is complete nonsense started by some shit stirring journo mistranslating him. Apparently in Spanish he said something along the lines of "I don't get why this is even a story. It's not like I had a 4th substitute and still didn't bring him on. If that were the case then I could understand the outrage." and then this journo has translated that as "I wouldn't have brought him on even if I'd had a 4th substitute to choose from!" which is obviously a completely different thing altogether.

Just to play devils advocate a bit here. I'm not as sympathetic to Bale as many of you seem to be. Whilst the treatment is a touch disrespectful, ungrateful even. This sort of behaviour and how their fan base etc treat players is nothing new. He knew what the score was going there and how quickly, even by football standards, they can become fickle. Hope he decides what's best, be it staying and reaping the cash or continuing with his football elsewhere.

Completely agree. I think it's possible to think both ways. Yeah, the treatment isn't very nice but it doesn't seem like he's really trying to get away either.

His options do seem to be very limited. Assuming he'd only go to a Champions league club then in England it's us, who can't afford him, City who probably don't need him (that might not stop them), Chelsea who might need him but would Roman pay for him if he's thinking of selling the club? And there's the transfer ban. Then there's Liverpool who again probably don't need him - although would they have won the title this season if he was there?
Which other teams in Europe would want him? Juventus have got Ronaldo, PSG seem to be struggling with FFP. Bayern have just lost Ribery and Robben so maybe....

I can see this one going on until the end of the transfer window before Real cave in and accept a low offer from someone.

Bale to City goes away from their model in every way possible.

I think Real will need to subside his wages if he goes anywhere else because there's no way they're gonna allow him to sit in the reserves collecting that kind of money, If I was Bale's agent I'd be telling him to stay put for the time being.

I tried to look it up. Zlatan is on the biggest contract in MLS history and I think he gets around 145-150k dollars/week. Compared to Europe that's not a lot.

I wonder if zlatan gets in revenue from other clauses like beckham did. Beckham only got 6.5m a year but apparently walked away with 250m over 6 years.

"We estimate that Beckham earned $255 million over the past six years in MLS, including salary, revenue sharing, endorsements, appearances and licensing"

Now granted they're not beckham popular but they're popular enough to make more then just their salaries.

Yeah, that's one reason Zlatan went there to begin with (imo). He's building a brand. I don't know how much money they make from other stuff, this was just his wage figure. It's still a ton of money, but I think Bale still has a couple of years before he's desperate enough for the MLS.

Always thought Zidane was a bit of a douche, but after the Betis match, he's more of a turd...

MENDY TO REAL MADRID?

Real Madrid are expected to sign Lyon left-back Ferland Mendy for £49m from Lyon on a contract until the summer of 2025, report AS.

The Frenchman will battle with Marcelo to be first choice while Sergio Reguilon, who played ahead of the Brazilian for much of last season, will go out on loan.

This intrigued me.

Was on sky sports transfer centre (yes I'm very very bored at work!).

They supposedly want to sign Mendy and have him compete with Marcelo and then send out Reguilon on loan, who was first choice mainly last season?

Wouldn't it be better to get shot of Marcelo if he's on the wane and Reguilon was better and have him compete with Mendy?
