Ajax held a testimonial for Eriksen after he left for Spurs. That just shows how important he was to the club leading up to his departure.
Not sure anyone could argue about his form over the last three seasons & it is one of the reasons Spurs have done so well & punched above their weight during the same time period'
I'm not a fan of the way Eriksen is playing at the moment, and agree that he should not be starting games right now. He does, however, deserve our appreciation for what he has accomplished at the club, and the great Dane has provided us fans with some breathtakingly beautiful football in seasons past.

He’s playing his way out of the fan’s affections now though isn’t he.

Agree except he didn't play particularly well last season.

Last season was his time to step up show the elite clubs he was good enough for them. He choked and now as far as being a first team player is concerned we are his level.

As he will be free or cheap a club will come in for him but the elite will see him as a squad player.

An interesting point from a Sky Sports article on Dele Alli. Against Liverpool the most distance covered by players from either team was as follows:

Dele Alli 12.21 km
Christian Eriksen 11.80 km
Jordan Henderson 11.33 km
Roberto Firmino 11.05 km
Fabinho 10.76 km
Harry Kane 10.68 km

So, the perception that he is ambling around the pitch and not putting in a shift is an incorrect one (at least in the context of that game). He may not be performing to levels of previous seasons but he is hardly the only player at which that charge can be leveled.

Lesson learnt, doesn’t give a shit about the fans and is one of the most selfish players to ever wear our badge. Makes me admire Kane even more!

You can run around like a headless chicken all you want, but even if you’re not on the ball 5% and your heart isn’t int it anymore it will make a massive difference.

That's nice - yes it is important not to disregard what he has done in the past. He seems to have switched off and may have already mentally left the club. As in all walks of life, some people will continue to give their all to an employer even if they want to go elsewhere and some cannot do that. Based on his current form, together with his clear desire to leave, it would seem preferable for him to be left out. It seems however that Poch either cannot or does not want to do without him.

Eriksen aside - the article itself is quite interesting in how it describes the way the transfer market has changed. In many ways it described our team when Poch arrived: young, skilfull, talented and moldable - not so much so anymore?

Not so sure about this. He gets paid to give it his all for us while he is contracted to us. Yes, he has exceeded expectations in the past but that doesn't mean he has credit in the bank to show the level of disinterest he has this season. It's disgusting. I have no idea why Poch is persisting.
After he leaves our appreciation of him will be diluted based on what we're seeing now unless he decides to up his game. Also wonder how much his form will affect who comes in for him.

No one did. That excuse is getting old

We shouldn’t play him unless his attitude changes drastically. So different to Modric in his final season.

but he doesn't, its clearly not just form. he's purposely downed tools, and is playing within himself for personal gain, if he was still playing the way we know he can, 100 percent of spurs fans would wish him well when he gets his move, unfortunately hes tarnished himself now. maybe in a few years when he retires etc, people will forgive him ala berba.

I agree that he looks as if he has downed tools and is playing within himself, but that will not help him to gain the move he thinks right. He's a free agent at the end of this season, so Eriksen should be getting stuck in every game and playing to the best of his ability, which will increase any transfer fee he receives from the club of his choice. Currently he is doing neither himself, nor our great club, any favours. He should be considered for selection by Poch only if he changes his attitude and starts earning his salary.

Granted, he runs a lot, he always has because he's very fit. Unfortunately, he's not in a race, he's in a game of football and as such, was terrible.
His running was pointless, anyone watching on Sunday could see that.

I don't defend that, just saw the stats and shared for the purposes of debate.

My take on it is that if the application is there then the underlying team selection and formation is the issue thereby allowing the game to pass them by and the effort be in vain.

Perhaps he just shakes the thing up and down in his pocket. And the tracker.
