Our midfield and defence are brittle as a dethroned Mardi-Gras queen. We need some really focused investment in these areas for next season or we’re more fucked than a Chenobyl technician

We've no one in mid-field closing down

No a lot of the problems are caused by the midfield actually doing too much closing down.

The front three are doing nothing of purpose most of the time, not pressing the opposition hard or effectively, and not in behind the ball. For both Winks and Lo Celso their only defensive ability is to try and press hard and scrap immediately. So lo and behold, what we get is them trying to chase men when Leipzig are easily working the ball out due to piss poor work from forwards, they have no hope of getting there, and just get taken out of the game and create massive holes.

You can say they're admirable qualities to have, trying to take it upon themselves to go get the ball back or chase someone else's man, but they're professional footballers, they've got to work out not to constantly chase when it's not there to do so. And then what are the coaching staff doing, they can see it unfold, settle them down, and get everyone working as a unit. All pressing, or all getting in behind the ball, instead of this disjointed rabble.

This is such a sickening way to go out. Gifting them 2 soft goals and giving up.

Really? Thought it was straightforward enough.
I’ll leave you to mitigate on the managers behalf, full time job that it is
Imagine being this bothered by someones view that time and patience should be offered to a new manager.

Haha.

Top banter mate.

"Injuries aside" like it's 1 or 2 squad players... we're missing 3 or 4 absolutely nailed on first team players, what the fuck is Mourinho supposed to do? We're "slow" because the squad is on its knees.

yes, because INJURIES ASIDE, i would still expect us to be better. did i say we should be winning? no, just better than the current shit show.

They out-played us and are constantly going down our right hand side. They press well.
Sess isn't good enough for this level; hopefully he will improve.
GLC is the only person I trust with the ball. Dele is having an off-day because no one can find him in the right space.
Winks is recycling the ball but I feel he isn't trying to do anything with it.
Can't see us winning this one.

Their fullbacks are hugging the touchline right up the pitch which is why the back five is still getting stretched. Move our forwards all out wide and hang on their back 3 and they'll have problems. Pointless hanging around the middle of their back 3
