Somewhere in this thread it was pointed out that Toby now seems to back away from advancing forwards .True .

He did this in a recent match to a point where the forward scored past him and Gazza . Looks like he's lost confidence or agility
I've noticed this too. Could theorise that one reason he's lost a bit of confidence is because he doesn't trust Gazza to be as quick off his line as Lloris in case he makes a challenge and gets beaten. Or maybe it's more personal than that, and it's just himself thinking he's lost a yard of pace and confidence with it.

We'll know more when Lloris is back I think, whether this is a temporary thing or more permanent.

Ah yes , Gazza slow off his line , true . I was screaming at him to come out in a recent match ,but no , the opposite forward scored .

Contrast that with Foster yesterday when Moura was through for a one on one . Perfect goalkeeping as he raced out to narrow the angle .

Hard to teach a keeper to come out fast for one on ones is it ?

The most frustrating thing for me is how much we just give away possession through poor decision making. Lamela, Moura, Alli, Son - unbelievably wasteful yesterday.

Lamela's shooting especially was so infuriating.

It’s funny, on paper that is an enviable front four but the reality is all those players are inconsistent and have a mean performance of good, a top end of excellent and a bottom end of disastrous.

Ideally would only ever be two of them with Kane and a pre 2019 Eriksen. Going forward hopefully it can only ever be two of them with Kane and an up to speed Lo Celso.

I agree.

It's not like we weren't trying to make things happen and there was some good attempted build-up play yesterday at times. It just so happened that everyone decided to have an off day and subsequently, we could barely make anything happen and when we did, we squandered the chances we had.

You know you are crap when your keeper gets MOTM against relegation fodder.

Frustration for me is how a player like Lamela can be outstanding one match then utter turd the next.

This has been a common theme throughout my time supporting spurs where we’ve had players who can be so good one game then utter shit the next.

We need better mentality, aside from the bright spot period where Poch :)cry::cry:) was doing well for us we’ve always seemed to have weak mentality players that seemed to feel they only need to show up every other match or so.

We are so unbalanced and fucked up (again!) at the moment at the Kane injury has just about finished me off.

Tailing off ratings a bit but still just don’t get how we could not see a holding midfielder and a centre forward at least were needed in summer.

A frustrating game.

Gazza saved a pretty duff penalty.

Aurier had a good game but still had my heart in my mouth a couple of times, I mean what the hell was that two footed thing he did? It wasn't even a tackle, I don't know what he was doing!
He did make a very good defensive header though.

Toby was good, some lovely balls out to Son on the left.

Jan was OK.

Tanganga should never have been given a yellow card imo but he coped admirably with probably the best player on the pitch.

Winks I thought played very well, looked forward a lot, which is what we've been asking for but he does get caught out of position often.

Lo Celso I though was very good. Good vision and tenacity. Will only get better as he gets to know his teammates more.

Alli, I thought played well today. There's only so much he can do when there's no decent movement in and around him.

Lamela was frustrating.

Sonny started well, and was found out on the Left with a few good balls from Toby, Gio and even Winks. Struggled to make any real impact on the game though.

Lucas ran a lot and played his part in a few good moves with quick passing but again, like Sonny, failed to make any real impact.

Eriksen played well when he came on, better than he has for a while and we will miss his eye for a pass.

Gedson looked impressive in the little time he had. Nice movement and runs.

How the hell Capoue didn't get sent off is beyond me.
Also, how were there only 2 minutes of added time in the first half?!

Watford is the number one form team in the Premier League at the moment.
We're not doing good ourselves, but some realism needed. Was a tricky away game.

Lamela was either tired or trying to manage his energy output for whatever reason, as he wasn't pressing as much as he usually does (and by a large margin) and lots of times I noticed him actually moving away from opposing players and making, what it seemed to me, a conscious effort not to charge against them. Tbh, I felt he should have come off instead of Dele.

Tell me of any games where Lamela was good in one and utter rubbish the next. You cannot can you? Lamela had a rare off day yesterday. When he does play he is usually one of the better players, where an off day like yesterday is rare. You definitely have an agenda against him

One post criticising Lamela and you’re throwing around the crappy agenda word some people in spurs chat are too keen on using - have a word with yourself what utter shit...

My observations of him are that he can be really good one game and not so good the next. I have also said the same about Son in the past, do I have an agenda against him as well?

I also had same thoughts about Lo Celso how he’s been really good one game then utter tripe following one, and rather than it being against the players my thoughts are it’s more of a club mentality, as we cave far too often and more often than not during my time supporting spurs, have had a soft underbelly.

Fucking agenda, lol...

And also if you read my post how it was intended you’ll see it says HOW A PLAYER LIKE LAMELA (meaning he was an example, not just directed at him, more my annoyance how it keeps happening all over the spurs team).
