Observations:

They handled the ball twice in the penalty area and we got nothing, we did once and they got a penalty

A rare clean sheet playing away

Tanganga was stifled against Sarr due to playing in an unfamiliar position with an early yellow card which should never have been given

Despite the rhetoric against him in the Match Thread, Aurier kept their best player Deulofeu quiet, including saving a certain goal

I liked what I saw in the 10 minutes of Gedson

The goal line technology is fallable after all.

Gazzaniga my MOTM

Aurier was probably the real MOTM for his very solid defending but I have to give it to Gazzaniga for saving that penalty.

Thought Aurier was pretty solid. Winks was good. Tanganga held it together under server pressure. It was a tough game in fairness we'd of lost this game on pervious form we showed great determination to fight today.

Son and Moura need to do much more.

I dont think anyone stood out today, probably mostly 6's and 7's.

Son, Moura and Lamela under performed for me.

7: Gazza, Toby, Lo Celso

6: Aurier, Verts, Tanganga, Winks, Eriksen

5: Son, Moura , Lamela, Dele

Fernandes had a nice cameo. Looking forward to seeing him play more

Agree with everything except Lo Celso and Winks both 6 for me. I still don't know what role or position Lo Celso should be playing in.

Lacked any ideas, pace or creativity going forward today. Really is a worrying sign.

Defence coped quite well considering Watford had so much of the ball.

It felt like this is now our level, mixing with the likes of Watford etc. The only way that changes is if we spend some big money and soon. But we all know that won't happen!

Having said all that, on another day we get a penalty, they have a man sent off and that chance at the end goes in. No luck again but, as they say, you make your own luck and our performances don't deserve any at the moment.

Thought Lo Celso was very good. His execution and selection of passing was spot on and he worked tirelessly in defence too. Think he’s best at no8, would be interesting to see him next to a proper 6.

Eriksen did ok when he came on.
Team looks low on confidence. First touch not great. Would have scored in the final 15 mins before.

Gazzaniga saved the penalty, little else to do.

Aurier was ok, good fight defensively, got forward well but wasted good situations.

Alderweireld and Vertonghen had their best game as a pair in a very long time, far more focused and organised than recently against an absolute thug in Deeney.

Tanganga has his hardest game and came through with his reputation enhanced. Stifled by a daft booming early on, he stood up well to a very athletic, skilful player in what I imagine is his least favoured position.

Winks was ok, it’s not natural for him to be the defensive midfielder but he was determined enough. On the ball he was careful and neat, the few more adventurous passes didn’t work out.

Lo Celso got the ball into the front well but was crowded out when he got further forward. Worked hard off the ball.

Lamela huffed and puffed, some decent skill but too many poorly executed balls or shots when he got into dangerous areas.

Dele looked out most likely player to unlucky Watford, made our best chance with a lovely run and pass and unfortunately headed poorly when is great run and leap deserved the finish.

Son was ok, a few nice moments running at Watford but more often than not he seemed unable to find the right spaces and was let down by control regularly.

Lucas worked very hard but apart from his one chance seemed pretty lost, unsure where and when to run.

Eriksen did nothing to justify his cameo.

Gedson looked promising.

I thought Aurier was our best player

Toothless attack

Lucas worked tirelessly but to no avail

Lamela was polar opposite of his performance against Boro i.e. shit against Watford

Toothless attack

GLC was proper meh

CE i think played ok when he came on

Gedson had some nice touches

Gazza won us a point

Toothless attack

The main positive from the game was the clean sheet. Watford under Pearson is a different kettle of fish and coming off two league defeats we competed well physically.

Our forward play though wasn't good enough

Some positives:
Aurier once again showing he is underrated. MOTM.

Better defence and more creative players on the pitch. If we only had a target forward...

Mourinho starting to realise Allis real level.
