Lo Celso - As I said at half time, maybe this guy can be a good technical player somewhere but at the moment he looks more like a Futsal (or other small pitch/game) player who cannot kick a football properly or further than 5 yards, nor cover any sort of distance. Not convinced the PL, and a team that doesn't play the ultra technical tiki taka style possession ball, is a place he is going to shine.
This is the best assessment I've seen of Lo Celso on here so far. I won't fully judge him until he plays more and if we're lucky actually gets to play in a decent side. It's hard to explain, but it's like as soon as he has the ball he's already posturing to 'finesse' a little pass to someone so as a result has a somewhat flimsy look about him. I thought he was going to be someone who'd take the game by the scruff of the neck a bit more, demand the ball and spray it around but I'm not sure he's that player, at least not right now. In fairness he's only actually played in the middle so many times for us but I'm still undecided regarding him, personally.

The problem he has is that when he receives the ball, he looks up who to give it to -
Aurier - mr no end product, cannot pass
Moura - lets try running with the ball when its not under my control
Moussa - control and pass not on list of what i can do
Dele - lets try nice flick or trick
Harry - lack of movement, so to feet please if you can see me behind defensive screen

So tries himself and gets fouled or lays off easy ball to Toby or Jan to play long ball.

For him to take game by scruff of neck he needs players who move, give options and put in effort

It’s not a good assessment at all! Nor is the OTT criticism of Ndombele and his fitness. We’re expecting far too much from new players who are coming into a squad that has so many deficiencies…defensively in the main, it’s a joke!

It affects our whole system which means the absence of any link-up play from defence to midfield to our forwards! Opponents are taking advantage ‘cause they can clearly see their advantage.

Alli’s been crap in the last couple of games, ‘cause he has nothing left in the tank, same with Kane. No surprise Kane pulled up with his hammy, and wouldn’t be shocked if Dele’s next.

Our key issues are neglecting squad requirements right across our defence, and in our defensive central midfield. We never sorted out our WB situation on both flanks; have aging CBs, who have to do far more work than they should; no effective, designated CDM in front of them to protect them.

It doesn’t really matter who the coach is. We’re struggling with our squad options big time! We’re nowhere close to making any definitive judgment re our new signings.

Tanguy, GLC, Sess, have all done fine in the scheme of things…

Well there is that and I don't disagree with your assessment of the players but I'm sure he doesn't run that through his head. I think it's probably just more so like the problem you've pointed out with Kane and later stated, it's a team-wide problem, just lack of movement from everyone. Players either standing still or even moving in positions that's hard for them to be picked out.
I agree that it's hard for him in this team that's for sure, just thought he'd have more of that demeanour about him though. I think there's something there though, but I think we need to be playing well as a team to really see his potential with us.

Levy has made a monumental fuck up of massive proportion by appointing Mourinho who is fucking clueless and our performances are abject at best.

Dele 2 - Did not contest headers. Or 50-50s. Was never ready to receive the ball and always flat footed. Passing was poor. Lack of urgency in possession. Generally one of the worst performances I have seen from a Spurs player in a very long time. Should have been hooked at HT.
Spot on. A dreadful, dreadful performance. Cannot believe he was kept on for 90 minutes.

No one even rates a 4, just such a bad team and individual performance. Watching us at the moment also brings out the worst in me, my kids think I’m a nutter as I just spend the 2 hours in a foul mood and randomly swearing at people. I can’t even remember what it feels like to enjoy watching us play

We are a team that needs a new way of playing, a new identity. At the moment it feels like we are relying on individuals and only a handful have that ability.
Hopefully Jose can give us a new way of playing next season.

Vertonghen’s effort (or lack of) to get back and cover Toby for the goal sums it up for me. He literally couldn’t give a fuck.

I’ve watched this guy a bit and he is a quality passer with a terrific ability to pick out runs and play the ball into those runs but we are at best static and at worst static up front so he is not being spolt for options.

Was getting rid of Pochettinho the right thing to do?
I don't want to be that person shouting out I told you so it was and still is so clear the squad needs investment freshness rebooting recycling, Levy has to spend and sell.
If we look at the last transfer window it was an improvement from the previous cycle of windows were we did nothing. I personally thought Pochettinho needed about 4 windows to rectify the squad so when you hear Mourinho claiming he was happy with the squad there all new players for him and Levy quickly agreeing I worry. We all know this squad going back 5-7 years it peaked and now it's burst. Levy has to focus on the starting 11 quickly before other players start rotting beside the ones that are rotten already.
I'm not blaming Mourinho on the current maybe Levy has a greater plan in terms of financing a recognised winner.

On top of the "football players" being hugely overpaid and, on the basis of yesterday's performance, hugely underworked, I think the entire Amazon saga has also put massive pressure on the entire club. Its going to be like a bloody blooper reel.

Lets be honest, hands up who really privately worried that we would be the first club that Jose doesn't win anything at when he arrived?

Not blaming Jose for this mess, but abit worried he hasn't sorted some of our defensive mess at all, and abit worried about the lack of desire so soon after his arrival...really worried.

What i do blame Jose for ,is saying on day 1 that he doesn't need players and he was happy with this squad, i felt at the time it was the wrong message to send to a failing squad, i would have preferred if he said he had alot of really good players here, the slate was clean and we would see how we get on.

Spot on . It was as if he was thinking about how this squad was in '16 or whenever he last managed a team against us . The 'yesterday's man' comments against him may have some truth in this instance . Squad was never about great skill it was about collective intensity and Jose missed that it seems .

Coupla things from the match . I thought Gazzaniga was dreadful for Soton goal . He stood rooted to the spot instead of coming out to narrow the angle .
Kane was doing his 2nd level schtick without massive effort ...but we saw why . He was scared about his fitness , with reason as we saw . Very worrying about Kane and his future . New Kane needs the ball played to him in a scoring position ,he's not into battling with defenders like of old .
I'm generally not a Dele supporter finding his coughing up the ball frequently does not make up for the odd flash of skill . All can say about his bad performance is at least he was involved in the game .Moura ,Kane ?

Its a long while since things looked so bleak ,even Toby is crap ! New contract a mistake ? These are bad times alright.

The team is a million miles from where we were 3 seasons ago,we had pace, power ,work rate, intensity and hardly gave the opposition a sniff.

Now we struggle against the likes of Brighton, Sheff utd, Soton,Norwich even Watford, all out working us and more worrying out thinking us....this isn't a blip or bad form, this is the end for this group and if Jose doesn't get it and start to ditch them , he will be gone before them.

Luckily we are in no danger of a relegation fight, but our aim this season must surely be to start the major rebuild asap, forget top 4, forget CL finals, we must wake up and start the big job ahead.....or very soon our big club image will disappear and we will have the best facilities in the world with a team at the level we used to have in the mid 90's.

On the basis of the last 4 matches, is it implausible that we get caught in a relegation scrap? I don't think we look like beating anyone right now.
