Watched this game for the first time with the Toronto Spurs Supporters Club based at the Scotland Yard Pub in downtown Toronto. Good vibes, good booze with a lot of singing. The good win topped a very good day! Toronto Spurs Supporters Rock!!

Anyway as I said, a good win of a good game despite the defensive flaws. I am confident that Mourinho will sort this out

I am going to be different and say Aurier is my MOTM

It was that bad in the first half I thought we had gone back in time to the 70s.... absolutely dreadful!
Luckily the new manager had a spare team and he put it out in the second half and the stupid ref didn't spot it....lol...turned them right over.

Deli for me....tho Sonny played well as did whatsisname.....

Aurier, scored one and directly and indirectly created two goals. Good defensively as well.

Impossible to rate the first half, it really was that bad!

looking just at the second half;

gazza - 6 - nothing to do.
Rose - 6.5 - not spectacular, can’t wait for Sess to be ready,
Toby 7 - solid enough ish
Sanchez - 7.5 - solid ish and won a few headers.
Serge - 8 - the f**k did that finish come from?!
Winks - 7 - ok.
Eriksen - 7.5 - made us tick again, deserved a goal for his free kick.
Dele - 8.5 - absolute menace.
Son - 7 - one of those nights.
Lucas - 7 - as per sonny.
Kane - 8 - took goals well and a menace.

sissoko - 7 - his cameo clearly pleased Jose.
Ndombele - 6.5 - not long enough but looked good, has to start.

jose - 10 - subs were good and made some very good, clear tactical changes. We don’t get that result a week ago.

Miserable 1st half. Left side of the defense was an absolute shambles but not helped by Winks giving it away all game. Hopefully thats rock bottom from Winks. Worst game ive seen from him. He’s been in poor form so lets hope he’ll get it together now after this. Eriksen had a miniscule impact when he came on in the 1st but was good 2nd half. First good 45’ since January. Well done to him. Not sure how much of the 2nd half was down to the changes Jose made or how tired Olympiacos were. They were exhausted after 65’.

Future: At the back, Sanchez needs to start regularly at RCB. Jan back at LCB for now. If Jan’s form doesnt improve then try a Sanchez/Foyth pairing. Drop Toby. Hope Sessegnon is ready. With Davies out for quite awhile and Rose in awful form, he should get a ton of games. I’d look for an LCB and a DM in January.

I picked Aurier but nearly every time a side attacks down either wing, a cross comes over.
Is this a problem? It certainly looks dangerous.

But the Wenger school of thought is that nothing much comes from wing play. Perhaps the important thing is that the cross is delayed so that we get all our defensive ducks lined up.
Dunno, but something is not right as a lot of goals are going in.

Anyway, his was a memorable goal.

None of the players that started can earn greater than a 7, as none deserved higher than a 4 in first half, with Dier and especially Winks very poor in that period.

Gazzaniga. 5
Aurier. 7
Toby. 5
Sanchez 6
Rose 5
Dier 3
Winks 4
Son 5
Dele. 6
Kane. 6
Eriksen 8 MOM
Sissoko 7

Sanchez MOTM for me. Only player who could hold his head up high first half and continued to be composed in the second. Such a shame he didnt score his heading chance.

Aurier had a great game. If he can continue in this fashion then we will wonder why we were concerned about the rwb position. Hopefully he Carrie's on.

Ball boy an honourable mention.

Felt a bit for Dier, he is off the pace and looked out of place. He'll come.good, but needs to sharpen up quick.

Rose, I love this guy. He works so hard every game he is in. But his positional sense has deserted him at times. Cant fault his effort levels.

Winks was poor first half, but the tactical changes suited him.and he grew into the game. It was only Dele and Winks that were trying to move off the ball (first half)

Lastly, for me, Eriksen. He had a.really good game. Adds that extra dimension and helps open up those defences. Showd how much we miss a player of his caliber when he is on form.

I went for Aurier but to be honest it should be Jose. I just love the fact that we now have a manager who makes tactical changes and I thought the way he conducted himself after the match (apologising to Dier and giving credit to the ball boy) was exemplary.

Sanchez for me. Aurier was ok going forward but so many crosses came from his side that he failed to cut out. He wasn't getting close enough to his attacker.

Talk about the archetypal game of two halves!!

First half was dreadful. No one except Aurier and Sanchez came out of it with any credit. The rest were laughably bad. Silver lining was that it gave Jose a good look at the work he has ahead of him. He may have thought her inherited a talented squad. But now he's looked behind the curtain he probably is starting to see there are some pretty big holes that need to be addressed.

Second half was better. They calmed down, focused and played with more determination. But by no means were they bossing it. We played good in some patches, but Olym still opened us up a couple of times and if not for some tiring legs on their side, the scoreline may have looked a bit different.

Overall, Eriksen certainly helped bring some balance into the game. But for me Aurier was the MotM tonight. Played very well defensively and offensively. New life for him perhaps?

Only odd decision from Jose was the Sissoko sub. Not sure about where he played him. We've known for ages Sissoko can't play for shit in a right sided attacking role. He's too much of a klutz. So really not seeing what Jose was hoping to happen with thag sub. Lo Celso would have made more sense.

Hopefully Jose will start to see that we may not quite have the players he needs to play his preferred system. And maybe gives a run out to Ndombele and Lo Celso and maybe Foyth too in the next game. Give everyone a chance to prove themselves.

Sanchez has been the one constant in this dud season so far. And he was head and shoulders above everyone in the first half.

whilst Dele Kane and Serge impressed in the second half, Sanchez was already MOTM at the half time whistle.

MOM - Mourinho. Lesson in changing a game quickly when it is obviously not working and how to see the game out. Plus how to manage your players via the post match press interviews. Publicly apologising to Dier was a great touch.

Gazza - 7 - As Hoddle noted, his positioning could have been a little better for their first goal. Solid hands and feet.
Aurier - 8 - Looked really strong on that side of the pitch with a very nice goal and an assist. Let's hope game three under Jose is not a brain fart.
Toby - 7 - Overall very good, our defensive leader. Seems ot enjoy playing for Mourinho.
Sanchez - 8 - Awesome recovery from a disastrous Winks’ back pass first half.
Rose - 4 - Very weak for their first goal. Total waste of space for their second. Seems to cost us a goal every time he plays. Would like to see Jan play there if we are having asymmetrical FBs (or Foyth on the right with Sessegnon on the left).
Dier - 4- Heavy, slow, wasteful in possession. Deservedly hooked after 28 mins.
Winks - 6.5 - Also very weak for their first goal, and poor for their second. Was busy throughout though and quick to harry and press.
Moura - 7.5 - Nice assist for the important 2nd. Tried hard to make things happen first half when the rest of the front 4 were static.
Dele - 7 - Tried too hard first half, poachers goal, second half played naturally.
Son - 5 - Not his night. Another who I suspect tried too hard.
Kane - 8 - Two goals, quickest in CL to 20 goals ever. Captain Marvel.

Eriksen - 8 - Wow. Had forgotten how brilliant his set pieces could be when he whipped them in on goal. Looked like the Eriksen from 2017/18. Welcome back. Sign a new contract and you can start ;)
Sissoko - 7 - Lovely back heel near the end.
Ndombele - 7.5 - Some glimpses of his elusivity.

Ball Boy - 9 - Quick hands and mind. Great assist.

Mourinho - 9 - After picking the wrong team (forgivable in only his second game in less than a week in the job) he fixed it quickly after 28 minutes, settled the troops at HT, and then saw the game out once we were on top. Our players will learn so much from this man.

Sissoko was not put on to attack on the right. He was put on to stop them attacking down our left. And it worked perfectly. The game had become an end to end 'who will score next' affair and after this sub it was game over. Great game management.

Gazza: 6 - The first goal should have been stopped. A few other dodgy moments with crosses were also noted.

Aurier: 8 - MOTM for me. He's looked excellent in the first two games under Jose. Whether that's down to something specific or just the adrenaline rush of a new manager and a point to prove will be seen in due course. I have severe doubts over his medium to long term consistency levels still. But a great start. His goal was excellent.
Sanchez: 8 - Narrowly misses out on MOTM. His recovery to make that tackle in the 1st half was Ledley-like against Chelsea. His overall positioning was good too. Still has one or two iffy moments that he needs to iron out, but I suppose that's to be expected at his age.
Toby: 7 - Solid enough.
Rose: 5 - Didn't seem to enjoy being restricted. His "clearance" that led to their first goal was shocking. He also failed to defend the near post area which he was assigned to do. So two of his mistakes led to goals. Not great.

Dier: 4 - Jose said sorry and that it could have been anyone. He was lying. This was Dier at his worst. Slow, lacklustre, hiding from the ball, wasn't even defending the space he's meant to be defending. All that in 25 minutes. We need a new DM.
Winks: 6 - Not much better in that first period of the game. Improved once we went to more of a 4-3-3 formation. Still unconvinced that he's good enough to be a starter.

Eriksen: 7 - Poor when he came on, improved a lot in the 2nd half. Not to the levels JJ was alluding to on air for BT Sport, but he was a lot closer to the Eriksen we know and love watching. Kept seeking the ball, played some nice passes (and some bad) and whipped in a wonderful free kick for Harry's 2nd. Good game from him.
Alli: 7 - Dreadful, as everyone was, in that first period of the game. Got his act together in the 2nd half and played reasonably well.
Son: 6 - Not one of his greatest games for us, didn't improve as much as the others did after an equally horrid start. Never hides though and just his presence on the pitch is a threat to other teams.
Moura: 6 - Unlike Sonny, didn't really look to receive the ball that much. There will be games which do not suit him and at home to teams liky Olympiakos may be some of them. I see him more as a counter attacking threat. Did reasonably OK. That's about it. Good pass into Kane for the equaliser.

Kane: 8 - He scored two goals. Fastest player to 20 goals in CL history. We don't blink an eye. That's how good he is. We will never understand how good he really is until we lose him due to retirement when he's 40 (hopefully!).

Sissoko: 7 - Sured things up once we drew level. Was solid enough defensively, a little wasteful as usual going forward.
Ndombele: NET - A few nice touches. I love watching him play. I hope Jose feels the same way.

Special mention for Jose, our grievance with Poch was the amount of time it took him to make changes in games, either tactically or personnel. Jose in his first home match acted after 25 minutes. Obviously the tactical tweak wasn't the deciding factor in getting us back into the game, it doesn't matter what formation you're playing, when you can't find a team-mate with a 5 yard pass you're going to struggle. But the intent of it was good and once we started to play better, you could see that brining on Eriksen worked. He then quickly brought Sissoko on as he knew a draw was enough. It's very refreshing to see and I found him very honest in his post-match assessment of things.

Gazza - 5 - should have done better for the first goal and flapper a few times from corners. Far from convincing.

Rose - 6 - only an ok performance but seems to have lost a lot of pace that he used to get himself out of trouble.

Toby - 5 - lost his man for the second goal and his long range passing was not very good.

Sanchez - 8 - pace, power, reading of the game all very good and saved us a couple of times. Great game.

Aurier - 9 - MOTM, great all round performance from Serge. Bombed up and down the wing, great crosses, great defending and a very good goal. Well played.

Dier - 5 - the unfortunate one to be taken off as it clearly wasn’t working. Needs to regain fitness fast.

Winks - 4 - very very very poor in the first half. His “tackle” for the first goal was utterly pathetic and he continuously got caught dallying on the ball. Only slightly better second half but still got caught on the ball 4 times. If anyone pressures him he seems to panic, and this was against Olympiakos, hardly world beaters.

Son - 5 - Not one of his best games, sometimes needs to cross or look for the easier pass.

Dele - 7 - first half not great with the rest of the team, second half was much much better and showed the Dele of old.

Lucas - 6 - hard work as always and a good assist for Kane. Needs to do more.

Kane - 8 - always a threat and has some serious shithousery now which I absolutely love!

Eriksen - 7 - much better game from him!

Sissoko - 7 - the right substitution at the right time and worked really well with Serge.

Ndombele - NA - not much time for a rating but showed his class on 2-3 occasions with his immense ability!

Mourinho - 8 - saw the formation and team wasn’t working and changed it quickly and correctly.

Wow - Toby worse than Rose? Really? Rose at fault for both goals.
