Let’s all blame Dele Alli. I swear this agenda against him is totally toxic fortunately people in the stadium support him because they appreciate the work he does off the ball.
It seems no matter if he scores assist plays a blinder he’ll still get ridiculed. I really do wonder about our support at times to me it’s way tooo toxic... shame really ... Kane gets the same treatment were a better team without him bull shit luckily for him he scores more goals.

Everyone agrees that Lo Celso earned his salary last night, but I think it's past time that people started noticing the number of chances and goals that are coming through Aurier. With his reduced defensive responsibilities, due to Mourinho's asymmetrical formation (which desperately needs Davies back), he's been reliably our most threatening source of crosses for some months now and he stretches defences in a way no one else can (or bothers to). Yet again, he was very effective last night and, yet again, he produced a goal.

A word about Lucas. If no one will pass him the fucking ball on the fucking ground, he can't do much except chase and harry and get in everyone's faces, which is what he spent 97 minutes doing last night. He was a mosquito out there, an absolute pest, full of energy and pressing and closing down, but for much of the match, the only time the ball came near him was when he was required to do his leaping-salmon act and try to win a header against an opponent six inches taller. He didn't lose it as often as Dele and Lamela and Sessegnon, but that's mainly because he didn't have it. Also, it may be because it didn't produce a goal, but no one even seems to have noticed his brilliant through-ball early in the match for a chance that Son belted wide.

I'm trying to work out whether Sessegnon's hesitancy and lack of ambition are resulting from his own lack of confidence or instructions from the manager. His reputation is as an attacking wing back with suspect defensive skills, but what we're seeing, week after week, is a largely competent defensive left back who is unwilling to attempt to beat his man or put in a cross. Every sortie upfield ends the same way: advance along the touchline; pause to consider options; pass conservatively back into central midfield. It could be that Mourinho wants him to be Davies in his three-man defence, to free Aurier on the right, or it could be that Mourinho wants him to concentrate on defending so he can develop that side of his game, but the result is blunting our overall attacking game, because there's no threat from the left except for a gravely out-of-form Son.

I had wondered how much of the change to long clearances was down to Mourinho and how much was down to the difference between Gazzaniga and Lloris. Now we know. As usual, Lloris kept it short for the first hour. As usual, it gave the fans heart attacks. As usual, it never caused any actual problems. I was pleased to see that the one time Norwich stationed a trio of players on the edge of the box to apply pressure, Lloris had the common sense to change his mind and send it long. I don't think that would have happened under Pochettino.

What is different about Lo Celso and Gedson is that they do a lot of stuff well. They're not specialists like Eriksen or Dier. GLC hasn't been putting in the kind of inspired creative balls that Eriksen would produce at his best, but he has a tigerish overall game and he knows what to do with the ball when he wins it. In two substitute appearances, we've already seen Gedson in three different roles and he's handled them all pretty well.

If we can get Ndombele properly fit, I won't really have a major problem with our midfield creativity. There's a lot to be said for sharing it out between 2-3 players, instead of relying on Eriksen for everything. But when you list Lamela, Ndombele, Winks and Dier, you're looking at an awful lot of chronically crocked midfielders. How do we establish a stable style under a new manager with that kind of churn in midfield?

I think you'll find that's one of the key problems - his lack of.

That wasn't so last night. One of the few admirable things about our overall team performance was the renaissance of the team pressing game and Dele was one of those most responsible.

His goal looked straightforward enough, but someone had to see that run and bust a nut to make it count, which he did.

Dele worked hard last night, but like most of our midfield has had for many months, he had chronic problems retaining possession after we won it. It's been a theme: we win the ball scores of times and give it back as soon as we've won it.

That was one incredibly sloppy game from both sides. Norwich just kept making stupid mistakes in their half and we kept pouncing on them, and then ... giving up the ball before we could get a shot off. Dele was winning it and Dele was giving it up.
