Lack of joined up thinking at both ends of the pitch. Romero needs to give his head a wobble. We really missed a focal point up front and the decision making in the final third was all over the place. Newcastle sat deep which nullified our pace, but Eddie Howe plays what's in front of him and adapts. I think we cause them all sorts of problems with Solanke and we don't get caught on the break like that with Mickey VdV.

We're easy to play against as we create very little goal scoring chances and always give them away so sit back and wait. Crying out for a striker today...
Did have 20 shots although as u say we needed a finisher today

The issue is we're not creating clear cut chances for all the possession, it'd be different we come away somehow missing chance after chance or their keeper having a worldie, but really don't look like scoring much when teams bed in. Most the shots were from distance

There was a few times though where just no one alive in the box which hopefully solanke will make the difference.

We played pretty well and there's just something different about our play this year. I don't know if it's more focussed, instilled, considered or what but there's more control rather than just running about a lot.

Having said that, we had some poor performers out there today.
Romero had one of his worst games for a long time.
Bissouma was too easily bypassed despite us having the better of the midfield exchanges for the most part.
Son was very poor and we can't keep giving him a free pass, frequent poor choices.
Udogie looked like he had never played professionally before. Where has he gone??
Odobert very lacklustre.
Kulusevski was better than most on here are giving him credit for, but still not great

for about 70 mins was a good performance. we looked sharp and dispossed them on a few times but the decision making....mainly from Son...Is shocking. He really isnt a central forward.
Johnson was my MOTM

Anyone who thinks this attacking players is good enough for a top epl team is delusional. Excuses like Solanke was injured and youngsters needs time will prop out as usual.. Ange said we gonna challenge this season.. I highly doubt it.. Mid table for us and our top defenders leaving end of season.. my prediction

Midtable? Really? Fuck sake.

… round about my feelings. Thought madders was a 6.5/7 today. & porro maybe a tad higher than ok.
On another day we’d have come away with a hatful & the narrative towards our players would’ve been very different. Naturally fed up we lost, but better than my middle daughters suggestion that we’d be truly turned over

Good - Vicario, Dragusin, Kulusevski, Johnson
Ok - Porro, Bissouma, Son, Maddison
Poor - Romero, Odobert, Udogie, Werner

I thought Vic was poor. Kulu was frustrarting as well at times, but did have good momemts.

Porro was decent, Johnson very good when he came on.

Bergvall looked good as well.

Dragusin had a great game.

Johnson is my MOTM, he brought us to life when he came on. Romario is getting blamed for both goals but watching the replays of the second goal over again you can see he stepped up to play Murphy offside but Dragusen didn't move up with him and played Murphy on.

Very similar to what I would've given.

Udogie and Romero v poor, Dragusin and Johnson very good, the rest not bad

Agree Vicario shaky on set pieces and distribution off his left was poor. Kulu and Son were wasteful with poor decision making and execution.

Romero getting slated but we should be able to cover him pressing for the first goal and we went to sleep On a quick throw in. Dragusin showed he hasn’t played enough as he butchered the high line rather than holding the line for second.

Credit to Johnson he made a huge difference and was our most effective attacker.

Ange made the change needed with Johnson but didnt refresh the midfield when Madds ran out of gas.

Ya know… after the last two matches there, I was expecting more of the same, given the players who were missing. We had two cockups but we looked way better in buildup and control. IMO if we’d had any of our three strikers healthy we’d have won. I’m not losing sleep over this.

Pleasantly surprised to see both my picks for MOTM getting the votes in here.

Johnson MOTM for me, 45 mins and he did much more than any of our other forwards.

Had Solanke played I'm sure he would've bagged an assist or two.

Dragusin a close second for me, those two tackles to prevent goals were great, he is definitely good enough to start for us he just needs more game time in those legs.

Maybe it's just me but I find it difficult to tally up "played pretty well" and the rest of the opening line (which i agree with), with a list with 5 starters having bad games and one "Not great"!

Thought Romero and Odobert had poor games but the rest as you say are playing with a bit more cohesion, fine the final pass didnt come off a lot of the time, but they seemed clearer at least with the patterns of play prior. We created a lot of openings where the final ball should have seen us with a significant chance but we couldnt quite execute.
