Full backs, Toby and Lloris ok. Don't know wtf Poch's approach was. Couldn't have imagined a more self-sabotaging, set up and strategy against a very poor Newcastle team.

Most worrying, Harry Kane used to have a hold-up game, the ball used to stick when he had his back to a defender, he used to actively seek spaces between the lines and move to exploit any potential openings if he sees incoming service. He obviously didn't get much today.

He was absolutely redundant, the VAR penalty aside. He was poor no doubt, but it was more down to the total lack of creativity coming from our CMs; clear to see from the start of the game.

Also, very little movement coming from Son and Moura across and through lines of a packed defence. Newcastle just put a body in front of Lamela, cutting off any passing lanes, and we were back to aimlessly recycling the ball and then doing nothing with it.

It's a coaching issue. We had the tools, strategy and personnel at our disposal to beat Newcastle handily, but just didn't deploy them.

I think Kane and Moura just don’t work together. Moura takes up Kane’s operating space so Kane goes looking for the ball. Kane spent most of the game in midfield. That said he was just as lethargic and off the pace as the rest of the team. Last seasons form has continued into this one.

That was dog shit.

Toby and Hugo get 6s from me, others 4s with Sanchez a 3 for that shit show.

Our fullbacks are not good enough, for all the huff and puff they just dont create anything. That said we had the ball so often in dangerous areas with KWP/Rose in possession and the rest of the team were static so not sure its fair to label so much blame on them.

Winks and Sissoko do not work in midfield, against teams we have less possession fine, but in these games just not effective.

I can not remember Lucas and Kane ever working together, the game was crying put for Eriksen from the first minute.

I am worried about Poch, as the team just look awful, what is the excuse/reason? His core team have had a pre season. He got in 3 of his targets. We are in a brand spanking new stadium. Yes the contract situation is up in the air for 3 players but he himsellf has said thats not an issue. Poch gets a 3 bad set up and lack of striker on the bench is an issue.

Sidenote sat in the south stand next to an ass. I understand we all get passionate, but calling our players the C word is out of order. At 0-0 we start chanting the you're shit song, embarassing. Sometimes our fans act so small time.

Don't think Kane spent most of the time in midfield. I'll have to watch the game again. Actually, saw him stick up front more than in previous games when he wasn't getting service. I'd have been happier if he had taken on more of a MF role as we sorely needed some creativity to stretch their defence.

Cant be bothered to do ratings. Dismal in all aspects of football, tactically, technically, individually, collectively.

The most damning thing you can say is that we look a badly coached outfit currently demonstrating very little in terms of cohesion or a plan of how we're trying to go about our business. Words I thought unthinkable to say under Poch, but that's where we're at.

Par - Lloris, Toby
Bogey - KWP, Sissoko, Winks, Son
Double bogey - Rose, Kane, Lucas, Lamela
Triple bogey - Sanchez
Subs N/A

I don't think it's kneejerk to say that Sanchez has never had a worse game for us, certainly not one where he is so pivotal in us losing. Rose should've seen the danger and moved towards Joelinton earlier but the way Sanchez just left him and moved into no mans land was unbelievable. He was bullied all game and even Muto late on got the better of him. His debut season in the back three was outstanding but 18 months and many games later he is yet to convince me in a two.

And I have to ask what is wrong with Kane. Is he still feeling the effects of injury? He was the best striker in the world at moving around and getting shots off from tight positions while being closed down. Now he just stands there and gets marked out of games, except for when he comes so deep he can't do anything with the ball anyway.

Lucas should've scored a brace too, and if he had done we would've got out of jail. Both misses are situations where I expect a top flight player to do better.

A huge shake up is needed before Arsenal, this loss piles the pressure on us for that game. Dreadful in every way today.

May I add Davies put a cross better than rose did all game with his first touch
Rose was clearly shagged, midway through the 2nd half, had to be taken off. The Newcastle defence was also shagged at that point where Davies was fresh. We have two good LBs. A case could be made for Davies starting today, but that position wasn't even an issue today. We had far more structural concerns, which Rose had to deal with, and Davies would have had to do the same.

Think Lo Celso's little pass through to Kane before he got rugby tackled is going a little unnoticed.

Pretty much the only bit of quick creative play that took place today for our perspective.

Must have watched a different game. Thought winks played pretty good
No-one played "pretty good". Both Winks and Sissoko were pretty passive all game. The sideways passing and keeping pointless possession just played into Newcastle's hands, Neither showed any initiative to drive forward into the heart of their defence when the sideways and backwards distirbution was clearly not working.

Personally I feel quite sorry for Sanchez.

He’s being forced to play on the left side of defence when he’s naturally a right sided centre back. He’s bang in the middle of this Jan and Poch bust up and people will find excuses to bash him.

That’s not to say he hasn’t been poor, because he has. But I don’t think he’s being given the tools or capacity to succeed on the pitch.

I agree.
Before Toby has been deployed as LCB when Jan has been unavailable, but this season Sanchez has been placed there, a position he absolutely isn't comfortable in. Toby at LCB if Poch stupidly persists in not playing our best LCB, would be a better solution. He has the experience to adapt much better than Sanchez.
