Went with young Japhet. Class interview with him afterwards. Showed real desire all game to do his job and even made a lungbuster in the 85th minute or whenever it was. Lamela and Lo Celso both ran him close with their desire and harassing the opponent, unsettling them.

Sess was decent down the left. Some may think overcautious, but I think he is starting with getting the basics of his role right. Once that's down he can start to express himself more. All about building confidence.

I thought Winks and Eriksen were both good. Could have been 4-0 and an easy win if Eriksen had been put clean through when the opportunity arose. Fans booing him at matches doesn't help, but they have a right to express their opinion.

Lucas had some lovely touches but then made the wrong decision a few times. Son looked lively.

Sanchez was dodgy but it happens. Verts did the job he needed to.

Gazzaniga - Did most things well.
Tanganga - looked good overall. I won't go overboard like lots will. I think he did most things well but was a bit slow on the turn once or twice and slow to close down for their goal. Davison was unlikely to win the header against gestede so it was on Tanganga to deal with the second ball, he didn't.
Harsh as it seems, if that had been verts or Toby we would be saying they could have done more.
Vertonghen - looked like he was running in Treacle at times, looks a shadow of last seasons player.
Sanchez - had a terrible time dealing with high balls first half, appeared to gesture as if the lights were a factor but I guess the lights (and wind) is the same for all.
Sessegnon - thought he played very well, showed good positional sense
Winks - played well
Eriksen - played reasonably well, body language stinks
Lamela - I love seeing Lamela when he plays like this. His attitude, drive and enthusiasm are second to none within the club. If only he could stay injury free
Lo Celso - sign him up now, much like Lamela, yes he gave the ball away a fair bit, BUT, atleast he was trying forward, progressive passing which was a joy to behold. I actually think he could become one of, if not The most important player in seasons to come.
Lucas - sometimes I like him, sometimes I don't. Played well, pressed well and his passing was better in this game.
Subs
Son - we went from quick inter changing passes to holding on to the ball too long and tryi g to do it all himself. As much as I like Son, he is frequently only interested in helping himself (today was one of those times)
Alli - don't remember him touching the ball, wore gloves though, have a word

On one hand, I’m furious he didn’t pass to an unmarked teammate for a guaranteed goal.

On the other, I rate his confidence that he thinks he - or any living being - has the ability to squeeze a 22cm sphere into a 5cm gap between the goalkeeper and the inside of the post.

Some good football going forward
Argentinian hit squad well up for it.
Two quick goals killed the tie.

Late recovery by Middlesborough
never really a threat
as I kept telling myself.

Lamela/ Lo Celso men of the Match.
Tanganga, Winks and Eriksen played well.

Verts not exposed this time out,
Sess still showing promise.

Dier pretty poor, Dele cameo best forgotten,

Banana skin? What banana skin?
