Average - Dele
Poor - Gazza, Toby, Jan, Aurier
Shocking - Sissoko, Winks, Son, Kane
Abysmal - Sanchez, Moura

Even worse than any of the pathetic games under Poch's this season

Very poor performance. I only saw the second half because the kid wouldn't go to sleep at a decent time. Having watch the second, I'm glad I missed the first. Not sure I noticed anyone playing well. We were worryingly flat.

Gazzaniga 7 - I actually don’t blame him for the first goal it bounces in such a weird place and it was moving all over the place he also made 3/4 great saves

Aurier 6 - was okay actually just his french friend let him down. He also did let rashford passed him to easy it was actually the time he needed to foul him.

Sanchez 6 - poor for the first goal and not good enough on the ball bur didn’t really do anything wrong.

Alderweireld 6 - nothing wrong really

Vertonghen 5 - starting to think he’s another one that doesn’t want to be here looked like sulky jan because he was playing left back for me that’s not a team player he was also very poor on the ball.

Winks 3 - could actually be the worst performance I have seen from a spurs centre midfielder in the last 15 years I’d rather play skipp he’s fucking dreadful really is awful he does nothing offers nothing and has no positional discipline.

Sissoko 4 - awful, but I think anyone would be next to winks and vice versa

Moura 4 - the Brazilian Theo Walcott has games where he looks like a prime ronaldo then when you give him a start and trust him he turns into Walcott but without the effort.

Alli 8 - only real player of class on the pitch that goal is one of the best I have ever seen the way that ball was spinning to do that incredible.

Son 3 - done nothing except run down blind alleys could have passed to Kane about 6x to give him a scoring opportunity but refused too wants the glory himself at all times not good enough tonight.

Kane 4 - looked like tired Harry didn’t offer anything but we didn’t get him in the game at all he must have only had 10 touches all game?

Ndombele 6 - changed the game when he came on we had some control finally and looked like we could create

Eriksen 6 - yes wasn’t great but he did create two chances within the time he was on the pitch so?

Lo celso 0 - his loan won’t be made permanent.

Jose 3 - didn’t even try to correct or stop rashford for they alone poor

That was as bad as anything served up by Poch this year. Winks and Sissoko as a CM pairing? No thanks! Our best players were Eriksen and Ndombele and they came on way too late to affect the game.

Gazza - 6 - Some good saves, but conceded a soft goal early.
Aurier - 4 - Partly at fault for their first - totally switched off and did not track Rashford. And beaten way too easily for their penalty.
Sanchez - 5 - Not sure why he was trying to dribble round their forward for their first gaol when he could have put it in row Z. Harsh to give him blame for the goal due to Aurier and Gazzaniga's subsequent parts, but still very poor.
Toby - 6 - Not his best game.
Vertonghen - 4- Body language was languid and he clearly was not up for it from the off. No hurry in anything. Even slow to take throw ons. Always passed back to Toby.
Winks - 4 - Rubbish and not a DCM. Stupid booking early on. Surprised he was not hooked after 28 minutes like Dier was theother week.
Sissoko - 5 - Clumsy penalty, offered zero control int he middle.
Son - 4 - Last seen in Wan Bissaka's pocket. No movement. Did not move to other areas of the pitch. Poor crossing when he did finally get in the ball last 10 minutes.
Dele - 7 - 5 if not for the goal which was majestic.
Moura - 4 - Last seen in Young's pocket.
Kane - 5 - Did not seem to offer any movement or hold play up at all. Did he register an effort on target the whole game?

Eriksen - 7 - He even won a tackle and a header! More work rate and movement than our front 4 combined in a quarter of the time.
Ndombele - 7 - Our best player ... shame he only got 10 minutes.
Lo Celso - n/a

Mourinho - 4 - Totally schooled by OGS. I cannot believe he just sent the team out to play as we have the last 3 games and let Rashford wreak havoc down our RHS in the spaces left by Aurier. I was sure he would change things at HT, but no, it was a Poch'esque lack of a plan B until too late. Surely he knows enough about football to see Sissoko and Winks is a CM partnership of mid-table proportions. Lo Celso, Ndombele and Eriksen had total control of the game when they were all on the pitch. Let's see those players start over their way inferior colleagues please! I was so looking forward to a tactical masterclass away at a rival and instead got a meek performance that disappointed.

There was little different to the games we won, but because most fans base everything on goals and results we go from being potential CL winners to the apocalypse in the space of 90 mins. Much of what was on display tonight was on display then also.

Trying to move the ball as quickly as possible - check.
A fair few errors because of that - check.
Quite a bit of pragmatism, verging on aimless long ball etc stuff - check.
When the play slows down, opposition is set, lacking ideas to get through it - check.
Defensively very open and too much time allowed on the ball for the opposition - check.
Individual errors at times - check.

Difference was tonight that Utd, although not exactly the most compact and defensively disciplined and well drilled team in the world, didn't get caught wide open throughout and offer up prime space in front of their back four or to be in a position to get ruined on the counter attack, a la West Ham, Olympiakos, Bournemouth. They also had the most attacking threat faced so far, tonnes of pace and in Rashford pace + ability + confidence to really cause threat.

There was a fuckload of work to do despite those wins, so I don't take tonight as a set back, just a useful highlight.

As for the game. Ropey start, before HT I thought we'd got back into it and looked the better team as it ended, the second half we never got going at all (the early penalty didn't help) and had a belated late hint of pressure in the search for an equaliser.

Individually wasn't a great deal of plaudits to be had. Alli's goal the definite bright spot. Very disappointed in Kane, and Son, Aurier and Sissoko weren't far behind him.

Gazza-6. Some great saves but conceded a poor goal.
Aurier-4. Horrible defensively, left with plenty of space but couldn't cross anyway. Sissoko had to cover for him and we lost our midfield.
Sanchez-4. Can't pass, gets bullied by stronger players and doesn't quite understand how to defend faster players. Rashford owned him on many occasions.
Toby-5. Couple of nice passes.
Vert-5. Decent cross before Alli's goal, struggled against the speed of James and others.
Sissoko-3. Had to cover for Aurier, terrible penalty, can't pass.
Winks-3. Does nothing.
Lucas-3. "Covered" for Aurier or at least tried to, horrible in attack, couldn't do anything against old Ashley Young.
Son-4. Clearly tired, didn't even try to shoot when he had a chance and wasn't interested in passing.
Kane-2. Does nothing, he was the same against Sheffield. Captain needs to do much better. Also he shouldn't take FKs.
Dele-6. Fantastic goal, that's it.

Subs couldn't do much, Eriksen had some good and some bad moments.

For me, the big problem is in centre mid. He just can’t find a formula there that works. I’d imagine he’ll want new personnel, but he needs to settle on a pair - maybe Dier & Ndombele - to get us to the transfer window at least.

If anyone thinks Alderweireld aimless long balls was a sign of a footballing CB you are mistaken. Sanchez made a few poor passes but was by far our best line of defence.

Son and Moura jeezz that was awful

Nice to see this thread returning.
I guess Dele gets motm for that goal, but was below par otherwise.
Kane was very poor.
Utd were up for it though - wanted to send a message to mourinho I guess.

That was absolutely dreadful. We looked bereft of ideas, and energy. At the end where you would think we would be chasing an equaliser, we just strolled about with no real intensity.

No better or any more fired up than we have looked for most parts of this calendar year. Mourinho really has his work cut out.

Winks receiving lower marks than Sissoko. Jesus wept. Can’t remember a game we’ve controlled with Sissoko in a CM2. He simply can’t play there.

Lots of dross, mainly our tepid front three of Son, Moura and Kane who all tripped over their own feet and chugged around in second gear.

Defence overrun but are so exposed by the parting of the Red Sea in our central midfield. Aurier reverting to his pointless worst.

Just give Lo Celso and Ndombele a run next to a DM for a few games.

I can't believe anyone rating Gazzaniga "poor" watched the same game. They could and should have scored at least another 3 or 4 that he did incredibly well to get to, as well as rushing out to beat Rashford a few times.

It would have been an embarrassment without him. One of the very few to have any credibility.
