Its Maddison.

But Bentancur was excellent.

Solanke/Johnson very good games.

Best performance of the season for me today, I thought the midfield was excellent. Bentancur and Maddison both brilliant.

MOM Maddison, just edging Bentancur due to his goal.

VDV great again, Same for Porro.

Great finish from Johnson and fantastic seeing Solanke get off the mark - just rewards for his work rate which is tireless.

Good performances all round but disappointed with Son if I’m being honest as I thought he was poor today. Should’ve killed the game when he got out through, gave the ball away a few time and his cushioning of the ball back to the thrower was horrendous on more than one occasion - Porro really on the end of a couple of hospital passes from him. Also big Vic, shot stopping 10, dealing with crosses / playing with his feet 3.

Anyway a much needed 3 points ahead of a couple of tricky away matches. COYS

I was torn on this, I thought Madders and Kulu were excellent but went for Solanke.

I know his goal was a tap in but I thought his overall play, Press, hold up play etc was exactly what we were missing last season.

Most of the work he does won’t grab the headlines but it’s vital.

it’s nice to have a MotM dilemma 😀

You have to give credit where it’s due. Ange tweaked the system and had Porro and Udogie stay wide so that Johnson and especially Son could play more inside. . It also enabled Maddison to get further forward. We looked so much better for it.

Maddison the obvious MOM but shout out to Solanke for his effective hold up play when we needed it

Madders. Back to that joyful footballer to watch that we saw the first part of last season.

Hopefully can kick on now and we start to really gain some momentum

Hope this is a turning point and we can really kick on now. Madders back in form, Johnson and Solanke on the score sheet with Sonny getting 2 assists, so the forward line is starting to click. Bentancur getting right back up to speed now and Kulu pulling strings too. VDV imperious as always. Just need to put a few good performances together where we bag the points now.
Good performance well done Spurs, but am I the only one to spot that Franks was not playing a low block . We had space to play, perfect . Mads (8.5) MoM

Dunno how many times we'll see the now standard Prem way to beat us ignored like this, by a 'smaller' team.

He still played 5 at the back but they wanted to play out from the back a lot which was brave and our guys smelled blood early on when we won it high up.

Madison easily MOM but plenty of other good performances.
Bentancur was imperious as the deepest midfielder. His best performance since the Cash injury. Yogi’s was excellent both defensively and in attack.
Porro interestingly seem to sit a bit deeper when we were out of possession in almost a back 3. An Ange tweak?
Son had 2 assists but was quite poor. He missed 2 good chances to score and was too slow/greedy to pass with others in better positions.
VdV was slow to react for their goal. He really should have got a block in. Other than that was his usual imperious self.
Romero gave away a totally unnecessary free kick in a dangerous position which given our weakness at set pieces could have ended badly. Great pass into Son for the 3rd goal.
Solanke worked really hard pressing and held the ball up well linking up with others. Getting the goal will help him feel more comfortable here.
Vicario made a great save to ensure we kept the lead at an important point of the second half. Unfortunately very shaky in lots of other instances.
Once again disappointed with Ange’s use of the bench. Have to give more players some decent minutes. It’s a long season and the games are coming fast and furious now so he needs to make better use of the squad.

I think they’re so short in terms of attacking options they packed the defence. Was expecting schade to play alongside mbeumo as pacy wide forwards which would have put us under pressure with both cbs going 1v1. Their midfield was really poor (we made them look bad) and our forwards pressed them excellently. They couldn’t get out and you can see why we target players like Johnson and Solanke (and son tbf) based on how well they press because it’s such a large part of our defence

maddison today was superb, so purposeful and dynamic. How his marker didn’t get booked was beyond us.
Solanke was a great target man and did so much right. When his teammates trust him and pass more in and around the box he’ll score freely.
Bentancur was imperious as well, which was good to see and hopefully won’t be punctuated by a long ban.
Son was fairly ropey again, fluffing two good chances to score and still not beating his man 1v1

With 12 months under their belts now I’m not sure we can say that vicario was a better deal than raya, cheaper as he may have been. He doesn’t instill calm enough.
Johnson was good but the crowd was better, so glad he scored and just felt the love again

on a sidenote the ref was terrible, awarding soft fouls against us but not stopping Brentford kicking our players all game.

Maddison was definitely MOTM but I felt really positive about Udogie today. He was full of energy and looked far more like the player we saw last season. Very promising.

Clearly it was madders…so I voted for Vic. Dodgy as fcuk but 2 saves kept us in the lead. The 2nd was unreal

Johnson and Bents were next best

They started directly and scored. Then sat back. Once we got in front of course they had to chase the game.

What was decisive was how often we turned them over, although Son, Johnson and Kulu were more miss than hit on final ball, or shot. That's why they were still in the game til the third finally went in.

Franks mentioned in his post match presser that they came to play.

You say they sat back, maybe, but possession figures are almost 50-50. Franks did not play a full on low block and so we had room to play throughout the match.

People are imagining that suddenly our players found form... when a big part of the reason is Franks didn't low block it. Our lowest possession figures of the season and no-one here noticed weird !

Madders best player on the pitch.

Son's confidence is shot it seems. I love Vic but he reminds me of Gomes. Clown one minute, top save clawing it out the next.

Love seeing Brennan stick it to the idiots.

Madison, Solanke, Bentancur in that order. I thought everyone had a good 7+ game except Vicario to be honest.
