I’ve also gone Hugo for that amazing save at the end. Can’t really say too much about anyone else although thought Davies solid second half, and Ndombele showed some flashes.
Thought Ndombele looked a bit gassed but was certainly more effective than Sissoko and (dare I say it) Lo Celso in the first half, who were both poor.
Great save from Hugo, obvious MOTM.
Personally think that was more worrying than the Sheffield United performance. Bricking it for Sunday.
The only reason he gets 1 is because he made some clearances in the first half.
He can excuse it with lack of service, which is valid, but he didn't make a single run all game. He didn't try to get beyond the defenders, didn't try to pull them out of position, didn't really do anything at all.
Plus, why is a bloke, with one deflected free kick goal 5 years ago, our de facto free kick taker?
I dont think Kane has managed to even get a free kick in goal in that time.
The fact he still grabs the ball and takes them is some squad hierarchy bullshit that should be stamped out.
Surely a lo Celso, son, or Tanguy can hit a better one than than. At least give them a chance. Kane is literally the worst free kick taker I have ever seen.
When I see supposedly top 4 quality premier league footballers unable to do basic skills like control the ball (without it pinging off their body faster than it arrived) or make a simple pass to a teammate, I struggle to put the blame on the manager honestly.
It's like watching a golfer playing in the Masters who can't figure out how to put his ball on the tee.
Hugo - 8
Aurier - Beyond Shit
Toby - 6
Jan - 6
Davies - 5
Sissoko - Shit
Winks - 4
Lamela - Shit
Lo Celso - 4
Bergwijn - 4
Kane - 3
Gedson - Don’t care
Ndombele - Showed flashes
Lucas - at least he wasn’t starting
Jose - shit, too much fluidity offensively relying on individuality which is never a good idea with the likes of Aurier, Sissoko and Lamela in the side.
Only positive is that we weren’t troubled defensively really.
I didn't think the CBs were too bad except for the one instance where they put it in the net but it was called for offside. Davies pretty average; Aurier could have crossed the ball all night, no one was going to get on the end of one.
Winks, Sissoko – limited. No movement, no real energy. Ndombele – I don't know, he's a bit more exciting and weird to watch, but when no one is moving around him, like, what's the point?
LoCelso – utterly pointless if we're not going to play him further forward. Son, shit. Lucas, shite. Lamela, fucking hell.
Who else? Bergwjin – didn't happen tonight.
You wonder why we can't score? Is it Mourinhoball? No. It's because we have two imbeciles named Aurier and Sissoko on the same flank that destroy every attack. They eat space for our other forwards, cannot make a forward pass, let alone a simple adjacent pass, and cannot receive the ball under pressure. This has been the case for several games. They both should never grace the pitch for us again. Maybe Sissoko can be used a game closer, so he can run around and kill opposition attacks like a headless chicken, but he also kills ours, so if we're ever in a position where we need to score, he should not be anywhere but parked on his ass in the stands. We are so one dimensional and predictable it's not even funny. That's why our forwards can't even get touches.
Aurier, don't get me started. 10 crosses, 1 accurate cross. Jesus Christ. Yet it's all Mourinho's fault. God awful. How do you expect our forwards to score, let alone touch the ball with that going on.
Season is effectively over, which is probably a good thing. Time to try some new things. Ndombele for one looked great. And he wasn't anymore of a defensive liability than donkey man Sissoko on the left.
