Lloris-4- Horrible for the own goal. Got lucky with a lot of flapping in the wind and with the shot that hit his face.

Auirer-6- Positional weak for the first half an hour. Offer a good outlet, very good tackle on the recovery.

Sanchez-6- Excellent defence splitting ball for son's winner :notworthy:, Solid but I thought he was slighty jittery with the ball

Toby-7- Lloris really let him down on the OG. Got beat on the corner but that happens. Incredible goal, some really good reads defensively.

Davies-7.5- Very good on his return. Saved a goal with a goal saving block and did incredible well setting Dele up for a golden chance.

Dier-5- Thought he moved around the pitch better, but still lots of work to get back.

Winks-7- Started a lot of our attacks today. Good spot to set Bergwijn away for the pen.

Moura-8- Brilliant dribbles, good movement and link up play. Just needed to be more assured in front of goal.

Bergy-8.5- Motm Pace, power and the brains to go along with it.

Dele-6- Wasteul, but it's a good sign that he was able to get so many chances

Son-8- Was all over it second half unlucky not to have had a couple more goals.

Gedson-6.5- Lots of energy. Think he's gonna be our Ramires.

GLC-7- He's a stud.

For the life of me I can't understand how people are blaming Toby for the OG and not Hugo. He comes for it and changes his mind leaving TA in a no win situation. He also starts to come and dips out last minute when they scored from the corner.

His indecisiveness must be a nightmare for our back four. Great shot stopper but he is an awful decision maker.

Davies with a 7/10 once again...Solid.
He was bit rusty & got turned in, in first 15 minutes. But he picked up the game after his goal line clearance.

More he played with Bergwijn, partnership got better & better. I hope Tanganga is now moved to CB or RB.

Gone team effort. Stevie B and Son shone; dele unlucky - feel a turn in favour is gonna come his way ?? - Ben D did well on return; winks was good; Moura threatened; Sanchez slightly ‘stoned-like’ responses. Toby made good. GLC is best option on corners; Aurier - liked him today, grew into the game; Hugo - always my preference as GK. Dier? I wonder whether I’m seeing him through the lens of ‘majority’ criticism - did better today I think.

Btw, I feel we quelled the influence of Jack ‘the socks’ Grealish well today.

I am not so sure, I know lloris was a bit dithery but it wasn't that close to him.

Actually I would even leave blame out of it on this occasion, it was a bloody awkward cross and bounced just before it arrives at Toby.

I used to fucking hate those ones, especially on my wrong foot.

So agree with this. That was terrible from Lloris (4). Real schoolboy error. He seems to have at least one error or absolute clanger in him per game now. How many times this season has he made a horrible mistake during the first 20 mins of a game this season? Wouldn't mind the occasional mistake, but the rate and consistency in which he makes them... Especially during that first twenty minutes is utterly bizarre. Can't be fun for the defenders or the manager. Thankfully it didn't cost us the game, but it has a few times earlier in the season and undoubtedly will again.

Winks (7), was good today, but not helped by Dier (5), who was an embarrassment in the first twenty mins, but thankfully got a bit better.
Aurier (6), did well defensively but his inability to cross the ball is shocking. Our other FB, Davies (7) was really solid, despite being out for so long. Toby (7), was unlucky for the OG, and scored a cracker, but struggled a little but today with pace and positioning. Thankfully his CB partner, Sanchez (7) was at the races and had a very solid defensive game.
Dele (5), wasn't consistent today and missed tons of opportunities and again gave the ball away countless times. The difference in quality between him and Grealish is massive. One should be playing for England at the Euros, the other definitely should not. He thankfully had good support today from Lucas (7) who ran his socks off today and Stevie (8) who looks like a class act. Then there is the mystery that is Sonny (6)... Had so many janky, wasteful moments today and yet scored a brilliant winner. Seems to have lost some tenacity, a half yard of pace and his close control isn't anywhere close to how good we know it can be. Yet, he was our matchwinner today and keeps scoring. Imagine he pulls it all together?
Lo Celso (8), pulled our shit together.

Jose... (6). Needs to learn that Dier is effing awful.

Lucas for me. Work rate was outstanding.

I was seriously wondering if i was watching a different game until i read your comment. Seeing the amount of poor marks and continual negativity aimed at Lucas has really got me wondering.

I thought he was excellent today and my man of the match. He was a constant threat and competed and worked and tracked back. I lost count of the amount of key passes he made. Yes there were two examples of things that people criticise him for on here but they were vastly outweighed by the amount of really good things that he does.

You can keep leaving him out of your match line ups but JM picks him time and time again and I can't see that stopping any time soon and rightly so.

I'm usually one of his biggest cheer leaders on this site but today he played like he had a hung over or something.

Also, I don't agree that he's usually indecisive, but these past two games he really has been. Very strange IMO.

Bergwijn looks a fantastic addition. Moura put in a great shift, Winks played decent and certainly together with Le Celso the midfield looks like it can play. Really like the look of Gedson there is some talent there and a bit of fight. Dier in the first 20 was a liability but to his credit improved, Dele and Son wasteful and need to do much better retaining possession. Defence still looks shaky and liable to concede at any time, Sanchez came out of it with credit.

Some decent performances all over the pitch and yet we still huffed and puffed our way past a very limited Villa team who even had McGinn and Mings missing. Finishing was pretty desperate though so it's not like we didn't create anything. The team are still learning to play together so patchy performances are fair enough. We have newish players, brand new players and some coming back from long lay offs so it's unfair to expect too much. MOM for me was close between Winks and Moura. Moura was all action and did his usual trick of winning umpteen balls he had no right to and also put in a full on shift.

I'll give MOM to the much maligned Harry Winks though who fought hard when we were struggling and showed a bit more 'go forward' than we're used to. He seems to be forming a decent understanding with Lo Celso too which is no surprise to me because they're both intelligent and gifted players.

For me 1st goal is Lloris's(5) mistake . Is he a shouter I wonder ? . That situation was his to deal with all daylong imo . Not entirely convinced he couldn't have reached the cross for Villa's second . Short of confidence to come out maybe . Similar situation at the other end , I remember, and their keeper yelled for it so his defenders left it .

Exciting match , but we cannot carry on conceding these open goals to opponents and expect them to keep on missing them . The shot that Davies(7) blocked would have seen us 2-0 down with a mountain to climb .

Sonny(6) is a funny one , but he 's getting goals so... He really doesn't like physically challenging defenders . His final goal was typical for me . Long ball and he gambles , as he always does , that the defender will muck-up and doesn't challenge . The one in 50 chance of the defender making a huge error suddenly came up and he was through on goal .
