Somebody mentioned yesterday that they want to see Sissoko used the way Ferguson used Park at Man United. Throw him in for the big games where his attitude and application shuts down our opponents, but under no circumstances play him in games we should be looking to dominate. I like that theory.
I agree with this method and had said so many times before we can't build a team on Sissoko Aurier and Davies.

He picked some great passes. The one he threaded through for Kane which their keeper palmed out for a corner led to our winning goal.

You wonder what game some are watching.

I'm one of Lucas' biggest critics but he was my MOTM today, hands down. Work rate for the team was superb, made more tackles than the entire Arsenal team. Not only that as you said he was unlucky not to get one or two assists for Kane with excellent passes from deep that I didn't even think he was capable of. I'm happy to hold my hands up when a player I'm not a massive fan of steps up like today.

Me to mate. He normally frustrates me and I think he really struggles for consistency, even during games.

But for a full 90 minutes, that was his best game in the league for us from start to finish. Better than OT couple of seasons ago imo.

But that's the sort of level he has to hit most weeks if he's to nail down a starting place imo. Certainly looking better under Jose.

Think we should see it as that is the player Lucas has potential to be.
Not the biggest surprise to see Mourinho turn a thought luxury player into a hard working team player. If he can do it with Eto'o ..

I think it might have been a case being a perfect role for him in this specific game, it's also one I'm pretty sure Begwijn could have done equally well in (who I think is a better all round player). That said he was a hero today and he did show me some vision I didn't think he had. I'm done with him as an inside forward on the right but he deserves some more game time on the left after that display. For me Son is wasted in that left wing role ahead of Davies, Moura or Begwijn should play there.

I was just pleased with the fight and more direct play. The formation worked , Arsenal looked pretty but only 3 shots on target. Imagine better defenders and what the front line could do. So much better than Bournemouth

He's a better defender than Aurier, it's not even close.
Be that as it may but he is just a very average defender. His miss-positioning and mistakes go under the radar only because the focus is on Aurier, including his crossing which hits the first man more times than not when compared to Aurier. Aurier is not good, but dont makeout that Davies is a Andrew Robertson.

My prediction was wrong because no way in the current climate did I think that we would draw much less win the North London Derby.

Saying that our performance was still poor, only marginally better than Bournemouth's.

On the other hand we beat the Scum!! COYS!!

My MOTM undecided at the moment as there are a few genuine contenders, but I may go for Toby!

Not sure what game you watched but from my TV the performance was 1000 times better than the second half v Sheff U, the Everton & Bournmouth games...

Jose my MOTM. Was a masterclass from Mr AntiFootball - Schooled Arteta, which was lovely to see

Where did I make out he was Andy Roberston?

I said he was competent and said we could do better, but he's definitely a better defender than Aurier.

Seriously read the post properly before going off on one.

Lucas was my MOTM. He battled for everything and was a good outlet on the wing to push back Bellerin or pretty much bypass him and attack mustafi. I really liked the formation as well that Mourinho went with. When i saw the team announced myself much like many others who posted on here thought it would be winks and sissoko in the middle but Mourinho caught everyone out and played Sissoko on the wing which was perfect, it helped support aurier, he could come into the middle of the pitch when needed and defend against Aubameyang and he could pose a threat with his constant running and pace. On top of that it meant against a 3 in defence we had 2 attackers constantly occupying them. It worked a treat and is probably what we should have done against sheffield utd.

unlike Aurier Davies is a very good defender

Cannot agree. Both terrible and holding us back from doing anything

Luckily Pépé was brought in for the game Sunday. Had gentle Ben on toast but did pretty much fuck all, which was nice!

You have a habit for accusing people going off one one, I wasnt! I was merely putting my point of view where Davies was concerned based on your assessment of him. I will however concede that I miss interpreted this assessment

I don't know where that comes from, the quality might not always be as high as yesterday, but since his first game for us I've thought of Lucas as one of those players that is guaranteed to put a shift in. He runs his socks off.

Lo Celso is bang average this season?

There is no guarantee of anything in the future mate.

Fairs GLC is better than average even this season; but i see bigger things from him next season.
Yep no guarantee for the future, but the under-current for our near future (3 years) look bleak. If and when Kane goes, there will be no hiding the cracks in our team..we might go further down the table.
