Some of you are being utter ****s about Sanchez. Nowhere near as bad as you’re making out.
He got shown up big time, he did grow into it but that header in the 80th minute on the edge of our box..??‍♂️
We had no other option as Aurier would have gone today if he’d have started against their front three who would have targeted him. Maybe Poch just felt it was horses for courses today knowing we’d get quite a few decisions go against us for the full 90 mins and played it safe.
For me Lamela, Son, Winks and (cough) Sissoko all put in decent shifts, Sissoko’s work rate is phenomenal and seeing him bailing out Sanchez one minute then being up the other end to hit row Z is pretty impressive!

Xhaka was MOTM cuz if it wasn't for him we would have lost..
I only managed to watch 2nd half, in which they were the better team. Based on that alone Sissoko/Lloris were my picks.
Sissoko can't finish but more than compensates for it with his fight and drive.
Lloris made decent saves.
I was hoping Deli could do more.

Lloris. Some good saves and generally decent. Kicking still a huge weakness.

Sanchez. Possibly one of the worst performances I've seen from a player. Not his fault, never his position. Really struggled to control long balls, and couldn't cope positionally. This is also on poch as he should if hooked him or repositioned him. The fact he didn't concerns me as its something he tends to do.

Toby and jan generally fine, nothing special today nothing awful. So glad to see jan back though and he walked out like it was his debut, full of pride and excitement.

Rose, becoming a serial liability. Probably cost us the game at Newcastle and again today. The new 'blitz' following trippiers departure.

Sissoko.. Was good at points but really needs to work on his offensive play and subtleties. Or simply defer consistently. Covered RB well in first half alo g with lamela.

Winks. Much better in a clearly more adventurous role. Lovely skill in the lead up to the pen. I want to see more of this winks, not the Conservative holding player.

Eriksen, did OK, had some passion which was nice, ran a lot probably our hardest presser beneath lamela.

Lamela my mom. Excellent defensive cover, some lovely dribbles and crucial run for the first goal. Would love to see him rwf in a proper 433.

Son close for mom though thought he was to eager to get off the mark with his first goal. Some nice bits and a couple of gorgeous shots.

Kane. Lovely pen. And the shot from acute angle with the outside of the boot that hit the post was gorgeous. That's a hard skill when the ball is running away from him. Something you don't get much from British players. Still looks slow and ploddy. First touch is still meh. What really is jarring me though is his constant foul seeking. Sometimes it feels like it's all he does. One thing I noticed though which I feel very noteworthy is that as soon as alli came on he started moving more and making runs. So perhaps this is part of the problem. He doesn't believe in his service.

Lovely little cameo from lo celso. Looks a tough little bugger with bite and skills for days. I know I'm gonna love this guy.

Alli was decent and probably should of got a pen for getting pulled about by ceballos.

Think it's worth noting that ceballos changed the game for arsenal. Looked a good player and one maybe that should of been playing for us. Dirty bugger but when he's on your side you don't care. I was impressed with him.
Your assessment on Sanchez is a bit unfair imo...what did you think of Vertonghen allowing Aubameyang to get across him to score.

I said it wasn't his fault.

I said it was on poch.

I don't think I was unfair.

He was awful. Gilberto at left back awful. But again not his fault he should never have been exposed like that. Positionally terrible and unsuited to the role.

U only watched the second half but claim we would've lost if it wasn't for xhaka(n)

Suggest u watch the whole thing dude, we could've out arsenal to the sword in the first half.
And then I'd counter that if it wasn't for the rose balls up we would've seen out the second half

Yep should have watched full match. Maybe we could have gone 3-0 1st half..didn't see so can't comment.

2nd half though my impression was we were lucky to get away with it. The only positives in attack I could recall was Son's drive into the box (and losing it) and Sissoko's chance (which you kind of knew he would miss). I can't remember thinking or expecting us to score.

Another thing that concerns me is we somehow just set back and thought we could play on the counter and close it out; which is why I think Arsenal saw so much more of the ball and looked more threatening. You could see their players wanting to come at us. I watched Liverpool vs Arsenal and in the 2nd half of that game Liverpool did the same thing, which was why they didn't keep a clean sheet.

I felt this was the wrong approach against a team like theirs; Arsenal will do well in attack this season (I feel they are the 3rd best attacking-wise in PL this season, even better than us) but they can't defend for shit. Their fullbacks are rubbish and only Sokrtis is ok as a CB. We should have been more ambitious and play against their weakness.

Completely agree. They overloaded his side knowing it wasn’t Sanchez’s natural position, but he won his fair share of duals against an in-form PEA and a rampaging Kolasinac. He was hardly gonna turn in a Zanetti/Lahm performance, but done okay considering the circumstances.

Away would have taken a draw before the game.
Should have won it at 2-0 a minute before half time.
Could have lost it they were very strong second half.
They were saved by the post
we were saved by VAR again.
We were good on the break.
If Sissoko could shoot he probably wouldn't be playing for us.
Exciting stuff but more excitement than quality.
Relieved to have go it out of the way.
Sanchez poor at right back and Rose idiotic at left.
Lloris (MOM) played well apart from you know.
But after Newcastle this was better, much more watchable,
more effort and pace.

Son by a mile

Ay?

Sonny was great today apart from the most important bit, scoring a frigging goal or having more composure on the break

Should have been our hero and match winner at scumsville today but unfortunately wasn’t

Would defo be MOTM had he finished a move off but was 1. A bit unlucky at times and 2. Fucked it up on a few occasions

I agree that Arsenal were certainly the better side in the second half but, while I don't think I ever expected us to score, whenever we broke forward we did look dangerous. You forgot that Kane hit the post after an excellent move and Son had at least 2 or 3 drives into the box, managing to make the wrong decision and running into traffic every single time.

One thing I liked about this game compared to last season's game at the Emirates, is that this time we actually looked like we had a gameplan adapted to our opponents. Today were willing to hit it long and play on the break, whereas last season, from what I recall, we tried to just play our game and duly got overrun. Often our our passing from deep was a bit sloppy and if only we'd had someone like Ndombele to feed Son and Kane, I think we'd have created an awful lot of chances against what was a vulnerable Arsenal defence with a very high line.

We could seriously play the 4 best defenders of all time and they would look shaky behind the Sissoko/Winks midfield duo. They are horrendous defensively. Aubamayengs goal they are both 10 yards off Guendozi. Exactly what happened against Newcastle where they give midfielders so much space to find runners.

Son didn't play bad, but I can't give him a motm award after he severely diminished the potential of a few of our attacks by looking for his personal glory instead of simply giving the ball to the player in better position to score the goal. I get that top goal scorers have to be a bit selfish, but I really feel it really did cost us the points today (along with Danny Rose allowing himself to become distracted by the moaning and whining from the emirates crowd).

City and Arsenal away last season we picked up 0 points. This season we have 2pts from those games.

Yeah we lost to Newcastle but I really saw signs of us coming back to doing what we do well today.........

Last season:-
City (A) - 0
Arse (A) - 0
Newc (H) - 3
Total - 3

This season:-
City (A) - 1
Arse (A) - 1
Newc (H) - 0
Total - 2

I dont see the improvement. Every game counts, not just the precious away points against the big teams. Points will win us the title, so we shouldn't be picking the big games only as a means of showing we're better off this season.

It was a tactical fucking horlicks and at no point did we ever seemingly have control over proceedings or a semblance of discipline off the ball in trying to nullify their biggest threat which undoubtedly was the forward trio.

That being said, Arsenal were equally inadequate off the ball and considering the midfield personnel they utilised i'm surprised just how open the middle of the park was.

Ultimately 2 points away at the Etihad and Emirates are serviceable for a good season but it belies the fact that we have so many flaws in our system and this still requires some open heart surgery over the international break if we are to solidify ourselves as third best because we are a million miles away from City and Liverpool.
I agree.
There's something else though, if i may.
2 away draws is better than 2 losses, obviously winning would have been perfect. I couldn't see us winning at Man City but yesterday I personally thought that we threw away 2 points. Arsenal are not Man City and with a bit more organization, grit, determination and tactical shrewdness, I personally believe that we could have walked away with 3 points easily. Like you said - "tactical F Horlicks, no control or discipline"
We allowed ourselves to be million of miles away from the top 2. We started closing the gap and then we have stagnated, regressed and others are quickly catching up.
I've seen 3 of the 4 games, all three very poor compared to past seasons. I am indeed a bit concerned for the lack of progress!

Son looked our biggest threat for 70 mins, so I was surprised that Lucas didn't replace him as pace when turning their shambles of a defence was our best chance of getting a result.

Rose was, and has been all season atrocious. Even after seeing the first goal again and again I can't understand how any player, especially a professional would do what he did in injury time in an away Derby when leading 2-0. One of the most baffling bits of play I've ever seen.

Lloris was excellent with his hands, diabolical as usual with his feet.

Alderweireld literally plays right back for his country. Why not play him there? Sanchez also has to shoulder much of the blame for the first goal. Firstly because he loses the ball to Aubameyang, but also for his shit clearance.

The biggest annoyance was the fact we always seem to let them off the hook at the Emirates. We make one stupid mistake after another.

We look like a team which is lacking in confidence. I also think Poch's general mood over the last few weeks has rubbed off on the team's performances. His mood has lifted, and we've seen glimpses of the "usual" Tottenham throughout that game, not just in the first half.

We were very well set up in that first half I thought. Our execution of the plan was not always there. We lacked in quality. Their defence is an absolute joke though so despite us not being at our attacking best, we managed a two goal lead.

Then, especially after the goal before half time, came the inevitable onslaught in the second half, which by hook or by crook, we actually survived. Their equaliser came just as that wave was dying down. What impressed me however was that we were able to recover from that, gain a foothold in the game and we actually looked the more likely side to grab a winner in those last 10 minutes.

Alas, it wasn't to be. We do seem to be lacking our usual cutting edge. We seem to mull over which option to take. It's not free-flowing. But that will come in time as this is too good a side, especially if we keep Eriksen and can look forward to a midfield trio of GLC, Eriksen and N'Dombele.

Son was MOTM for me. Sissoko a close second as he was tenacious and everywhere. Without him I believe we would have been overrun after that equaliser. Shout out to Hugo too, who got away with a few dodgy passes, but kept them out well with some crucial good saves.

Sanchez wasn't as bad as Neville would have you believe. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him there again, but he wasn't that bad.

Lloris for me even though Son were good, Lloris made some crucial saves which kept us in the game. Probably one of his more solid performance's in a while.
