Doesn't really sound like we're close to signing anyone else now after missing out on RKM. ☹️
We are hearing no ITK at all - that doesn't mean nothing is happening, it means most or all ITK we have on this site either no longer hear anything or don't want to post anything in here after all the abuse they have got in the last few windows.

Well as he's gone to Juve... this thread can be archived until the summer!!

The player picked another club that wasn't us. As Ange has said... this is his #1 requirement for players. It's nothing to do with Levy. If the board pumped more money and incentives at the player, then they're only coming for the cash, again the wrong profile. Oh well.

And who could blame them

@Ghost Hardware do you know why everyone isn’t trying to sign Cherki? Everything I see of him, he would be perfect for our RW?

Can he just not run or something?
I love Cherki, the kid is such a joy to watch. I started writing a profile on him just for kicks as I really enjoy his style of football. I used to have big misgivings about him but this season he has completely won me over. His technical ability and vision alone are incredible and he has greatly matured as team player both off an on the pitch.

He isn't really a winger tho, he can play there but he doesn't have much acceleration. At all really. He relies on his close control to beat players. He is probably the closest thing you will see to a classic old school 10. Think like Riquelme. So whilst his off the ball work has improved this season its still lacking and he is certainly more an offensive minded fluid 10 that finds holes all over the pitch.

The only time I would ever consider playing him on the wing is against a team that parks the bus. Really he is a perfect profile to counter teams that low block. But in open games he would struggle.

I also read that Lyon last summer were asking for a 30% sell on clause in order to let him go that put off a lot of teams. I'm not sure if that is still the case but that is very steep. Lyon are financially fucked and need to raise 175 mil euros or they get relegated so I wouldn't be surprised if Cherki and/or Fofana move in the last week of the window when buyers will know they are desperate. Lyon even just brought in Thiago Almada, an AM from Botafogo (another Textor team), in anticipation of Cherki moving.

I do know Bayan have been tracking him but I think they will focus on Nkunku. Ether way i hope he gets a good move as he has the potential to be a fantastic player and is already statistically one of the most creative players in Europe.

We need to stop worrying about perfect profiles for “touchline” wingers. We need more players who are technically sound and can beat their man. You can play those guys in multiple positions depending on the task at hand.

Whilst I do think we really need a winger I do agree with you. I do think if we raise the overall technical level of our attack then we will be able to hold onto the ball better and create more openings especially against teams that pack the box. If options are limited in this window then improving this area should be our primary goal.

Agree with you entirely and we’ve been the most vocal about needing specific touchline wide players, for this system anyway.

Can we lock this thread?

Surely any talk about other players belongs in a different thread.
It does but weirdly, there's never a general transfer chat thread during the transfer windows.
This thread seems to have become that.

We could probably do with one these days as there's next to no ITK going on and the whole transfer section is pretty boring as a result of that.

Yeah i'd agree with you, given the death of ITK on the site, a general transfer chat thread could be good.

If they were aware of anything they would post, or go through The Goat.

Irrespective if we get information or not, it doesn't have ANY impact on who we will or won't sign. Personally, I quite enjoy signings out of the blue and it's definitely less stressful!!

Shame for me, I know most dont seem to rate him but he would have come straight in on that right wing I feel , his ball retention alone would have changed us.
Kulu having to play on the wing is because we have no retention or progression with Johnson against certain teams, I think its out of necessity and ange wants him in the middle.
I think the wings should be our priority and if we get the right players, will be the most transformative buys we could make. Players are alot more eager to pass quick or g8ve and go if they know they player they are passing to isn't going to instantly lose it or give a shit pass straight back to him.

Starting to feel like the club just isn’t going to do anything other than Kinsky. To say that would be dereliction of duty would be an understatement.

Statistically that player is Bryan Gil. The season we signed him only Messi had better dribbling stats. Sadly he doesn't seem to fit in with English football
