Yeah, our season definitely hinges on whether or not we're able to bring in an average rotation option. Had we signed him, I'm sure you'd be in the player thread bitching about how shit he is after one sub appearance.
There's no need to bite quite so hard.

I agree, we have too many gaps in our squad and melts making the first XI for that. Let's see if they can put in at least a plucky display later. Most of them went for a stroll in a park in the Midlands last Sunday so should be quite fresh. We've got quite a good record down the road under Levy's leadership with 1 win in a quarter of a century so im optimistic- you?

I quite like Muani, and his versatility, and am disappointed all that hard work Ange says the Club is doing to bring in some help in particular for Dom is currently at least non-productive. But Muani alone wouldn't have saved us.

I think most of us,are very patient with our younger players in particular. Were you part of the pile on after Bergvall in Istanbul? I wasnt- he's already the real deal. The Spence bad attitude bandwagon? Not me, he should have been in ages ago. Mikey not ready- fck it, stick him in and let him work it out even if it takes a while.

COYS- the future is bright- even if it's far away

As @thebenjamin points out in the Ange thread, going by his last press conference it really does seem the priority for him is getting "help" for Solonake. With that in mind I wonder if we start looking at pure striker's, if we can't find another versatile forward we like and is affordable, rather then any form of natural winger. At this stage I really wouldn't be surprised if we tried to sign David on a free then offer a minimal fee in hope they will let him go now.

It seems too obvious not to happen. Been linked previously. Pace and workrate, decent finisher. Opportunistic contract situation. Actually my preferred option to RKM.

It's a shame we were essentially outgunned on this one. I'd like to see us pick ourselves up, and get stuck into other options. If frustrated players or players nearing the end of their contracts is a factor, how about Sane, Kimmich, J. David, Tah. We've been linked to all these guys before, so arguably it isn't pie in the sky.

Tyler Dibling is the one for me. If we are going to continue going down the youth recruitment route, he ticks the right boxes in my opinion.
Just thinking the same thing
Another smart footballer
Why not have a team of youngsters and let them grow together with a sprinkling of top notch older ones

A good fee and throw in someone like Lankshear on loan and we might start to get somewhere though.
I suppose if were playing hypotheticals, would Southampton have enough of an interest in Lankshear?, an as yet unproven player (in the premierleague) for it to make a difference.
Lets face it, if Southampton wanted to loan Lankshear we would very likely have him there this afternoon. Unfortunately Lankshear is likely to end up with a loan in the Championship.
Middlesbrough could do a lot worse, especially with Latte Lath likely to join Atalanta United and Boro not being in a good enough financial position to splash all of that money back out.

Yes, it's all supposition but we clearly wanted a deal for Muani.

I'd be more comfortable with Muani wanting to go to Juve because they are in a better position to compete and in the Champions League than it being merely wages.
The truth is nobody in here knows the reason he chose Juventus. People are merely speculating based on their biases.

Targeting say Dibling and Delap would be in keeping with our penchant for young prodigious talent with the plus point of being able to compete straight away and not necessarily nurtured through.

I've just read he only has 18months remaining on his contract which probably makes things trickier for Brentford if he won't renew

was going to ask about his contract situation. that's the only reason this would be viable if we threw down a large chunk of cash now.

Figured I'd post in here as it would likely be an alternative (obviously different profile) to RKM.

Fabrice Hawkins is usually pretty reliable for French news. Dunno how good he’d be for Brentford chat though, feels a bit like speculation. But would be some signing if we could make it happen.

It does make sense somewhat for Brentford though. He’d command massive money in Jan, they’re safely mid table, would give them a massive PSR cushion for the summer and Schade and Keane Lewis Potter look ready to take on more attacking responsibilities too. So who knows…

Just seems like an ill fit for us and that always tends to lead to fan frustration.

Hopefully we have got a plan, even if it is a pivot to a more of a traditional RW.

it’s glaringly obvious that if we are really going to back Ange for the season we need LB and RW reinforcement.
Think I’d rather we signed a centre back this January than a left back as we’ve seen Spence and Reguilon can play there. VDVs hamstrings are an enormous concern for me so I think we should be looking at a defender who might offer us something close ish to him who can upgrade on Davies long term and possibly also fill in at left back.

I can’t see it. They’ll still be able to command £60m + in the summer. I think the concerns about Toney’s attitude put a lot of clubs off him in the summer, that won’t happen with Mbeumo. There’ll be a bidding war for him. I wouldn’t sell now if I was Brentford.

Agree with this, even if his contract is running low if he was put on the market there would be a lot of teams sniffing and we never do well in such scenarios. I wouldn't be surprised if he would be after a CL team as well which is a tall order for us currently.
