Really disappointed and hope he wanted the move to Hamburg rather than we forced him out. World class player and it was a pleasure, thanks for helping us destroy Arsenal, you will always be my favourite Dutch player!

But he always scores against Arsenal...Captured my heart more than any Spurs player since pre Liverpool Keane. Also way underrated. His long passing is so sexy. I'm gutted.

Even though Modric is the better player, I'm more gutted about this. I dunno I just love the guys passion and wears his heart on his sleeve, plus I bet we'd be hard pressed to find other players with his goal record against Arsenal in only 2 seasons.

Thanks for the good times Rafa

Rafa Van Der Vaart, Van der Vaart, Rafa Van Der Vaart! Really sad that he's leaving, but at least he didn't kick up a fuss and is leaving for reasons that you can respect. Will never forget the day he signed and the goals he scored against Arsenal.

Seriously this is going to be a huge loss. We have nobody who can pass the ball forward...

Like when Ginola left, I feel very sad. But I think it's the right time, his fitness is a doubt and I don't think he fits very well into AVB's system.

As long as we reinvest the money I'll be smiling by the end of the day.

This hasn't fully sunk in yet, but I'm gutted. A proper Spurs player who can leave with his head held high and be welcome back any time! Not been this sad about a player sale since Ginola.

Thank you Rafa for the goals, the skills and the heart-on-your-sleeve passion!

Great player who is a pleasure to watch. Makes me think we must have a very impressive replacement lined up. I hope we get some good news soon.

really disappointed but he is can be a managers headache as he never stays where he is meant to be and I can see AVB wants players who do what he tells them to do whereas Harry let them get on with it.

Time will tell if this works or not and of course who else is still to come in today!
