Racist abuse in our stands, we need to face it if it’s there.

I suspect the "monkey chants" Rudiger thought he heard from a sizable section of fans was in fact fans chanting "who who who the Y*da are". You could hear that chant clearly and the spurs players seemed to be trying to explain that to Rudiger who repeatedly mistook the repetitive chanting of "who" as a racist slight.

Why would spurs fans be chanting about Yoda?

‘Let the Yoda out, who who who’.

Are you sure !! The mere accusation is enough

You mean like the accusation of rape being enough to condemn someone even if it's false?

That's the most ludicrous thing I've heard. With the greatest of respect you cannot condemn a group of people based on a mere accusation

You are saying they are both just as despicable as each other?

No and when are we going to see the proof that Rudiger was racially abused because all I see so far are allegations, this is obviously enough for some people to condemn our whole fanbase

Mate we've been tried and convicted by the media already, it's over.
Last night it was being reported as an 'alleged racist incident', which is correct....this morning they've dropped the 'alleged' yet there seems to be absolutely no evidence so far, apart from the accusation.

Nothing baits more clicks than a bit of controversy, although it seems like racism is the subject on everyone's lips lately.

In all seriousness though, if that chant (who, who, who let the yids out) was sung at that point, then that would be the most likely explanation that Rudiger mistook the ‘who’ for monkey chants (if it’s proven that there were no obvious signs of anyone being racist).

Racism is inexcusable. Also inexcusable are some of the ‘guilty until proven innocent’ comments. Not one witness or media source has provided evidence at this point, yet some of you have already made your mind up that it’s happened and we’re scum. Thankfully most of us are taking the common sense approach of ‘IF this happened then that person is a **** and should be banned for life’.

With that said, even if nothing is proven on the racist front, we should still be ashamed of the amount of objects thrown onto the pitch yesterday. We’ll get rightfully punished for that and that will also be social media’s ‘get out clause’ - ‘well you might not be racist but you’re a bunch of thugs who chuck shit at players’. And we’ll have no comeback to that.

Shit day all round. Hope this is cleared up ASAP either way. If they’ve caught someone, name and shame, ban him for life. If there’s no evidence whatsoever, make a very clear statement that completely exonerates us and move on.

anyone who regularly goes to matches/drinks around the pubs match days and says that dont ever hear 'colourful' language is flat out lying or literally deaf.

That other clubs/fans do it is unquestionable. That it is fundamentally a societal issue is unquestionable. But we are responsible for keeping our our own house in order, not indulge in whataboutery bollocks or blaming chelsea players for being dicks, or compare ourselves to west ham or chelsea fans. Lifetime bans for any racist abuse, and a effective reporting system for other fans in the vicinity to get offenders dealt with on the spot. Zero tolerance.

And lets be honest, we cannot any longer go around referring to ourselves using a historically racist slur and plead innocence/good intentions.

his reaction in feigning injury to get Son sent off was despicable also.

I support my club and players wholeheartedly however wrong is wrong. Son was stupid (ok a head rush in the heat of the moment) and deserved what he got. As far as the “feigning injury” there would have been none had Son not kicked the guy.

Son is wearing studs which might be a lot more painful than we think. Also everyone has a different pain threshold. Now I’m not saying the guy did or didn’t act the part to try getting Son sent off but either way, Son got himself sent off

TalkSport news reporting it as 'subjected to monkey chants'. The shit is being flung with so far no sign of evidence despite the all the camera's and mics there.

While I would not be surprised if the odd idiot shouted something racist, I would be surprised if there was 'monkey chants' which would suggest a group chanting.

My mistake... @dagraham said he was down there, and saw the commotion, but wasn't sure.

I’m in Block 123 row 11 and directly in line with the Son/Rudiger incident ( which was why I knew as soon as he did it he was likely to be sent off).

I was close enough to see the incident where Rudiger walked away from taking the throw in and talked to the ref and then Kane, but not close enough to have heard anything, even if the allegations are true.

Like I keep saying, I had a clear view from where I was sitting. It was 100% deliberate and I could even see Son’s face as he did it. Not saying he was trying to hurt him, but it was no accident.

Anyone who genuinely thinks that accusation is enough is a moron. No two ways about it

Only Spurs would manage to come out of a racism storm with a statement of 'We looked into it and thankfully it was all a big mix up, what happened was the player misheard a song he thought was racist but actually was just our fans repeatedly shouting a different ethnic slur unrelated to him, but they do it all the time so no worries!'

Which is so stupid it's now the only outcome i expect.

This thread is so stupid. Looks horrible on us. “We were racist? Oh but where’s the evidence” is that the new “how can i be racist if i have a black friend?” Be better SC. Whether the incident happened or not is not the fucking point. We all know there are racists in our fan base and this isnt the first time this happened with our fan base. We need to stamp this out of football. We have to take responsibility. We cant just say “oh there’s no evidence” or “oh but it wasnt me”. It looks bad on all of us.

I really fucking hope the club isnt that stupid. I know this club is a clownshow but i’d hope we’re not that bad of one. Need to come down hard and turn this into a positive by going all in on anti racism. Make it fucking clear that these people do not belong here.

Yes - Jim White giving it the good one at the moment.

did you here the Chelsea fan who called in saying he and his son left at 75 minutes because it was too hostile? And that he was right near where all the chanting came from and the gestures too. He could hear all of it and got spat at etc etc

Firstly, it was at the other end of the pitch to the away support so he is just talking shite!

For those wanting the club to come down on hard on Racism ... How do you suppose they do it if they don't have a culprit? They'll be accused of paying lip service if they don't find person(s) supposedly involved?
