It’s up to the powers that be over here to determine how our four places are given out. In theory can’t they decide that 3rd, 8th and 14th qualify along with the winners?
It makes sense that the strongest teams qualify as their performance in the UCL affects our coefficient (and more PL teams in the UCL the better it is for the PL).

I'm pretty sure the top four places in the premier league qualify for the CL if City are one of those four they qualify then the ban hits and they are not in it there's no reason why they should then allow another side to take their place as I see it.
Well somebody has to take their place otherwise the number of participants doesn't add up obviously. Seems like the most obvious/least fuss option is to just let the next best placed PL team in instead. Also the fact that the PL is the most watched league in the world so having the full quota if PL teams in the competition clearly makes more sense money-wise for UEFA than e.g. letting some random extra team from another league qualify instead.

The FA and Premier League will only act if the City's appeal doesn't succeed. There is no way they will risk the same threats that the City owner's made to UEFA (spending millions on lawyers to sue UEFA into oblivion) until everything is ironclad. Even then I'd not expect much.

So far as we are concerned, we need to focus on getting fourth. It's obtainable.

The way I see it, is they miss 2020/21 CL, and if appeal successful, they are reinstated the year after. The evidence is so incriminating and obvious, I just cannot see how ACAS, will allow them to re-enter until appeal heard.

I think from what legal eagles are saying, which is above my pay grade, they cannot let them stay in until case is heard. But who am o to know on this.
But if they get excluded erroneously, it could cost them £100m. UEFA leave themselves open to being sued to kingdom come. I guess CAS will have to hear the case ASAP, but it will still go to basically the day before the season starts, so whoever comes 5th won't know what's happening all summer.

Dont understand how they can appeal, it would be like Ted Bundy appealing.

Thats Chelsea and Man City punished now. Do they care? Do they fk. Points is the only way you can punish these clubs.
Better still, revoke their licenses to play in the league. Every time they fuck about doping the market or stockpiling players and loaning them out, exclude them for a season until they learn to get in line.

Probably unrealistic - I'm just giving vent to what I wish would happen.

Love this . This is a huge chance for us to recover from our poor start to the season, let’s not forget all of the domestic cups pep has stolen at city that we have a chance of winning now

Fuck waiting on 5th, 4th is achievable and I’m confident Mourinho will find a way to get us there.

yep it’s been a shit show of a season, like the end of last year too, but we are improving in finding ways to get results.
I take comfort and positivity that since mourinho took over only Liverpool and City have registered more points than us.

So who decides the qualification criteria is it the premier league or the FA because if it's the FA they could give the spare place to the FA cup winners. That might increase clubs' interest in that competition and raise its profile considerably.

The prem has 4 cl qualification places (UEFA?) and thats that so while I think you're right about FA Cup (and thats what should happen anyway to be honest) it'll stay as is

And if City wins the FA Cup? Give a CL place to the runners up of a domestic cup competition, which could theoretically be a Championship team?

Personally I think that’s an excellent idea. It might revitalise the missing magic of the FA Cup.
