It’s this simple imo win our last match and we get 6th !!! What I want though is both wolves and Sheffield United to lose tomorrow night and Europa is more less a guarantee as I don’t think wolves will beat Chelsea and the only other team who could finish above us is arsenal and if they did nab 6th and win the fa cup it wouldn’t matter 7th would still get Europa

Not confirmed yet, but probably. It's a huge chunk of the EFL's income and the Premier League agreed to keep participating as part of the breakaway deal back in 1992, so as much as they'd probably like to bin it next year that would be very difficult. The proposal seems to be to run Round 2 (featuring the Premier League clubs who haven't qualified for Europe) during the first international break which is just before the start of the season. Round 3 (where the rest of the clubs enter), Round 4 and the Quarter Final would then have to be staged during the same midweeks as European matches. So Europa sides would play Premier League on the Sunday, Carabao on the Tuesday, Europa on the Thursday, and Premier League again on the Sunday for any rounds they made it too; Champions League sides would play their European tie on the Tuesday and the Carabao on the Thursday.

Pretty sure the international breaks in September & October won’t happen. They can’t possibly happen nor can Europe competition. The reason August will work to complete this seasons is a) still the summer so not flu season & b) its a bubble. European competition and int’l play is far too many variables. Domestic competition is bubble like. Players and teams leaving overseas mid season violates that bubble drastically and creates a headache.

If theres a vaccine by Januay then perhaps abbreviated UEFA competition can occur

Doubt we'll have a flu season as such this year. Government are looking to vaccinate everyone i believe. Or a lot more than usual at least. Of course that is dependent on the vaccine being effective this year.

I had a look at the PL table..What a really weird season this is...
  1. Liverpool - Champions - have just scored 77 goals - which is just 17 goals shy of us
  2. City have better Goal difference (+10 more) than Liverpool, yet have lost 6 more than Liverpool
  3. Chelsea are 3rd in league, yet they have the worst defensive record in top 10 of 49 conceded.
  4. Spurs are 6th but just 1 Goal difference shy of Chelsea who are at 3rd.
  5. Wolves one of the most "entertaining" football team have scored 49 goals, 11 short of Jose "boring" Mourinho team of 60 scored

We've scored 94 goals?? :woot:

Yeh...pretty galling we are almost entirely reliant now on CFC to secure EL football. Really need Liverpool to win there on Weds (and Utd to beat West Ham) to ensure they have to play to win against Wolves.

What's the being we'll end up 7th cos Chelsea will be focused on FA Cup and lose to Wolves. Then Arsenal will win the FA Cup to take that final Europa League place!

This is the fear indeed. Really need Liverpool to actually show up on Weds and force CFC into fighting for their top4 place on Sunday.

Liverpool are on holiday no?? The fuck up at Arsenal will either give them the kick up the arse they need to beat Chelsea or just be the start of the holiday.

As long as we don't go out with a whimper against Palace, there are reasons to be cautiously optimistic for next season no matter where we finish now.

Europa would be nice as it gives us an extra £20 mill or so in the bank, and provides a way back into the CL. On the flip side, it's a massive slog, and playing Thursday nights can negatively impact league form.

Equally, no Europe at all wouldn't be a disaster, as it gives us a slight advantage over the 5-6 of our rivals who are committed to playing Tues/Weds/Thursday nights every other week. That advantage served Leicester pretty well this season, their hilarious recent implosion notwithstanding.

The thing is being in Europa next season is now totally out of our hands, and will be even when the League season finishes.

6th is not a guaranteed spot.

If Arsenal win the FA Cup, and Wolves win Europa League we are not in Europe next year. England would have 5 teams in CL in that scenario with 5th place and Arsenal only in Europa.

If wolves win the europa they will be in the CL and their Europa place (if they finished 6th) would surely go to 7th. I don't think you lose an Europa place if you have 5 teams in the CL

We can only have 7 maximum in Europe.
Same happened when Man Utd won Europa, following season England had 5 in Cl, 2 in Europa.

If Wolves won Europa (and say positions ended where they are now), and Arsenal won FA Cup

Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Leicester and Wolves would be in CL
Man Utd and Arsenal would be in Europa.
6th place would miss out

No point worrying about the permutations from other teams' results, both in the league and cups. All Spurs can do is focus on winning the last game of the season and we'll see where we end up. Personally I think we will beat Palace and finish 6th.
